Happy Thanksgiving All!!!!! Dinner was mostly a success. It has been several years since I have made candied sweet potatoes. I do not even like them and the other half is not allowed to have them. So. . . I cooked them up. Except I did not time things well and they were not completely cooked. Well, by the time this was discovered, everyone was at the table with plates full of food. Not much I can do at that point. I look across the table at my SIL. She is try to saw off a chunk of sweet potato. Now, she is the one that told me that were not completely cooked. I looked at her and said, "Meredith, if they are not cooked, DON'T eat them!" After looking at me in wonderment, she stopped trying to saw them. The other half says that is when everyone else at the table stopped trying to eat them. *head-desk* Other than the 16 year old boy who had just plowed through them and everything else on his plate before all were even seated. There seemed to be some amazement that I would not be upset if folks did not try and choke down undercooked food. I will say that after dinner I re-cooked the stupid things so that I could send them home with their share of the leftovers. They are my nieces favorite Thanksgiving thing. The peppermint bark was a huge hit with my BIL as well as the mulled wine. The six year old was really sure that he needed crackers to take home, so I gave him a baggie and told him to take as many as he wanted. They were Club crackers. Not exactly rare, but it was pretty amusing to me. Of course the "broken item over Thanksgiving"* happened last night. I exploded my electric knife. After telling myself to watch the cord, I proceeded to attempt to cut through it. For some reason, that is just not the best idea, all things considered. Over all, things went wonderfully! I hope everyone else's was as fantastic! *It is a law of nature that SOME appliance will have an issue and break down on Thanksgiving.
