I think, once we get into the general election, McCain will have something far more difficult to overcome, than Obama does with his "reverend Wright problem": McCain will have to prove that he WON'T be another George W. Bush. So far, he hasn't done much to distance himself from President "Junior." With statements like "We'll stay in Iran for 100 years, if we have to." Isn't winning him any support from war weary Americans. Add to this the emptied treasury, and three supreme court justicies ready to retire, (thus potentially shifting the balance of power in that branch of the government for generations to come) McCain's campagin for the white house is going to start looking like the myth of Sisyphus. In and of himself, McCain is an okay guy. Of all the republican evils out there, he's one of the lesser ones. But lately, the "straight talk express" has been on a curvy mountain road. I just can't stomach the pro-torture, pro-wiretapping, pro-lies out-their-asses attitude of the GOP anymore. Personally, I'm looking forward to an administration in the white house that can hold a press conference and actually speak in complete sentances. I'd like an administration that doesn't corral dissenters into "free speech zones" like inmates at Dachau. I'd like an administration that doesn't sit around discussing what the best way to torture people is. I'd like an administration that hires people who are qualified (not just horse trader friends) for the jobs they hold, and that will actually show the fuck up when there's an emergency. I'd like an administration that actually READS the FUCKING intelligence briefing, warning of Bin Lieden planning to use aircraft in attacks on American soil. I want a President who doesn't sit in the classroom for seven and a half minutes, staring into space, while the US is being attacked. (Again, I point out, at the time, no one knew the extent of the attack.. for all we knew, the planes crashing into the WTC were a distraction while bargain basement nukes were being delivered elsewhere.) And Bush JUST SAT THERE! I want a real President, thank you. Not this cruel joke on America that has sat there for the last seven and a half years.
