Looping old tires over them and setting the tires alight is what I hear is the most successful method.

Now in Wales they have their mobile camera vans some people ask why are they hidden if you want them to be a deterrent. For me the best speed cameras and the most effective are the average speed limit ones; where they measure how long it takes you to get between two cameras. Very clever and no way of avoiding them by slowing down, all cameras should be of this kind.
