#1 it was not his Salary that got raised at the very least be honest and accurate about it.
His salary didn't change his total compensation changed. the majority of this was incentive bonuses, rewards from the board for the increase in business his leadership produced.

Owner that's right Sue Sue Sue the refrain of our letigious society. Actually if you have had any real damages I'm all for sueing and all for the company paying the costs. But only if you have a real legal standing to sue (You have been damaged)
An so nice to consider all of them money grubbing ( hell take all those folks who own stock to jail obviously teir profit motivations make them culpable for the fact that a sub contractor violated the contract specifications.

That's correct, my ums are adults.
If you don't like the way Mattel runs its business don't buy their product.

Katy, that's what I do, if a company doesn't make their product in the U.S. I just don't buy it.

he specs didn't call for lead paint, the only failing was in not checking to see if the subcontractor had violated the contract and substituted a toxic paint on a child's toy. Not exactly something one would expect to happen, but yes something they still should have done. Obviously one must now assume that subcontractors are going to violate the contracts they sign and substitute things banned by law.

Once again, I have to thank Archer for using facts instead of the all too common conjecture that pervades CM posts.

In fact, Mattel was exhonerated (sp?) for their leaded products and indeed, the Chinese authorities not only punished this fellow who ran the various agencies that produced these products in the Mainland of China, but they ended up having to pay Mattel for various costs associated with the returns (certainly not all of them).

Mattel had indeed spec'd out quite carefully the products and chemicals allowed, moreover, they had a team that was sent over to China on a frequent basis to check out not only the manufacturing facilities, but as well, the chemicals used, the processes and indeed, the finished products.

All were shifted and moved (and documented by Chinese police in later documents) to have made it all but impossible for Mattel to have done anything but been impressed with their manufacturing partners.

In short, Mattel was at minimum, a model citizen in this situation.

Absolutely Pahunk, Mattel did "peddle leaded toys"...but they did so with 127% lack of knowledge, they did it with specifications that called for chemicals to be used that would be deemed unilaterally safe in the United States...and they did so with teams of US inspectors, paid for by Mattel who were deviated from their course while doing so.

And the Chinese government, not exactly a well known harbinger of good faith or intent...agreed with every point.

Popeye, PUHLEASE don't go in to this again!!!!  It's truly a foolish argument for you to make....trust that you simply aren't intellectually prepared to debate this topic.

We've discussed this before and you had no retort...because there isn't one.  It is simply impossible for you to purchase something that wasn't made in part or in whole in other countries.

Your car, if it's the singularly MOST American product on the road...was manufactured at least 38% on foreign shores.

If you own a TV, and I presume you do, it hasn't been manufactured in the United States since 1983.

Your tires?

There's one US manufacturer...I'll let you guess who it is.  I doubt you own their products.

Your radio (on the assumption that you don't have a TV)...that would be Singapore, Taiwan, Guam, Venezuela or, believe it or not...Russia.

Not Iowa.

(Sorry).

Your barbeque?  China.

The CD's that you listen to?

Try Taipai.

The VCR tapes that you surely record your shows with.

China again.

Oh...and that oil you drive your car with...in our case, 43% of all the imported oil we use comes from Venezuela.  All but 7% of the oil you have available at the pump comes from other shores (and by the way...the reason it isn't higher is because, of the 25% we pump here in the good old US of A....the military purchases over 86% of it...which means...you don't).

I presume you drive a car?

Your shoes....unless you purchase really expensive 5 inch heel, vinyl "fuck me boots" (which I really don't think you'd look all that exciting in), or work boots (you insist often you don't "need to work any longer") such as steel toed devices...or any number of other specialty products...there are only 7 viable shoe manufacturers in the United States anymore...and they don't make tennies.

I'll presume, for the sake of this argument that you haven't gone Bohemian on us.

Your TV clicker?

Oooops....China again!!! (How'd that happen??)

Popeye....please...do try to make some reasonable attempt at not sounding like someone who's never read a newspaper.

(Which, by the way...in case you were wondering...the paper that it's printed on....is manufactured in Venezuela).

Crap....Griz..That still leaves popeye the ability to endlessly ramble on about all the evils of Ted Kennedy and the horrific illegal immigration crisis.

That's okay....Kennedy, as far as I can tell was indeed manufactured in the United States.
