I understand it is an online protocal to set identity.  But in my view my thoughts don't flip like that.  I am submissive only when someone has inspired it from me.  My general persona (even when sub) is very confident, strong, capable, in the normal world.  Heck.  My general persona is that even when I feel submissive to someone.  I just don't need to be in charge.
When I state an opinion on something online, does it really matter if I am speaking as the submissive that I am to one, or the confident person I am in general?  It is the same me.
Doing that online stuff always seems just like being in a play, acting out a role, putting on a costume to show that you are the big bag wolf and not little bo peep.  If I were a blind person sitting through that play I think I could tell who was who without the aid of a costume.
I am me, regardless of whether I submit to someone or not.  It doesnt matter if someone sees me as sub or dom, as both views are valid.

It is hyper-annoying. I haven't been around here long, but I've already added it to my list of peeves, along with the all caps MASTER. Creeps me out a bit, actually, as though the slave in question gave up his/her brain at the door.

I generally ignore caps myself, so you will see me using lower case i a lot to refer to myself. Its becuase I forgot to tag that shift key.

Simply put, I am not a submissive or a dominant to YOU (you being whoever reads this) therefore I will address you as I would any other person.  Special caps rules would only apply to my own dom or sub.  I will extend courtesy to a sub who has been told to ask to only be reffered to in other terms, but and doms who demand caps can try and MAKE me. Otherwise, they can kiss my ass, and enjoy being told to do it.

Ah, the sweet voice of reason!

The way I see it, there is enough misunderstanding in communication via print as it is.  I don't need to add more confusion to the mix by capitalizing unnecessarily.  If others want to do it, that's their choice.  I do feel it makes things harder than it needs to be much of the time, and only rarely easier.  I've gotten used to it, though.

I also never capitalize "god".  If god doesn't get a big letter, dominants in general don't.  I save my capitalization for proper nouns.

i use capping on words (You, He, She, They, etc) aswell as on Sir, Master, & Ma'am to show my respect to a Dominant when i am typing. Similarly i never use capitalisation on "i" when i am referring to myself.
This is all mostly down to respect & partially from habit of being online and talking to people for so long, it becomes a second nature. i often don't even realise that i'm doing it.

I go with these definitions on the adjective:

–adjective

1.
ruling, governing, or controlling; having or exerting authority or influence: dominant in the chain of command.

2.
occupying or being in a commanding or elevated position.

In my mind they make more sense than calling an entire species dominant.

ps - if i don't capitalize a pronoun, it's never to show/not show submission. it's purely laziness at the keyboard. artistic license.

Apparently, they are rather consistent in annoying you with it.  Perhaps this game is deeper than you had first assumed, oh simplistic one.

OK - one more plea for dropping slash-speak.

I use adaptive software that reads the text aloud to me. This software is very literal, so when it sees something like "W/we went to see T/them," it reads it as "W-slash-we went to see T-slash-them." When the post is filled with capital-slash-lowercase words, I lose track of the meaning in a sea of slashes.

Have a little compassion for the visually impaired, please?

i'm so dominant, that i chose to use all lower case letters! i refuse to be bound by the typographical restrictions that other lesser dominants on this site feel compelled to submit to! in using asinine, arcane capitalization rules, other dominants merely display how easily they follow the lead of others - impinging on their claims of superiority and ultimately rendering them wholly unworthy of your servitude! all bow to me and my very alpha male use of lower case letters! i'm so dominant, the rules of grammar are submissive to me!

so whenever you see another dominant using capital letters, submissive women should know that dom really is saying "i am so insecure in the size of my penis, i must compensate by using the enhanced size of letter capitalization!"

i know this because i'm a real dom (a label that i'm the only one on collarme qualified to certify as i completed a correspondence course on identifying real doms - for those wondering its sort of like notary public training, and you get a stamp once you're licensed. contact me and for $150 i'll certify you as a real dom.)

so for all you submissives, if your dom is using capital letters, watch out... he probably slips out at night to be some other dom's gimp. as the real old guard dom slogan goes "word to the wise - if you're dominant, don't capitalize!"

I first began to capitalize My name only in emails to My slave, but over time it became habit. Now I have to be careful because occasionally I find I slip it into emails at work! Yes, the backslashes, all CAPS and third party references can be tiresome to read, but I do like how it tends to demonstrate in writing how the writer sees oneself and others.

I use capitals when using pronouns because I like it. Doesn't make My ideas any less worthy.

See and I Just have Problems where I Randomly Capitalize Random words in a sentence I Have No idea why I do this but I think it had to do with the Inflection I think each word has. However I must admit it Confuses the hell out of Random Posters trying to figure out if I am making fun of them or just Mildly retarded.

You're welcome to take offense where none was intended if you wish.

I used to teach English.  I have a bias towards proper English.  I don't automatically assume people W/who U/use slashspeak are chatters, fakes, or mindless anymore than people wearing "I hate Republicans" buttons are politically naive.  By the same token, it bothers me (I'm registered as a Republican, and voted for Ron Paul) and I chose this opportunity to express my view without any intent to malign others.  If it sounds authoritative in tone, perhaps that's a glimpse into the individual personality of the author, no?

On other forums where people would comment over the lack of capitols due to my laziness, i would tell them that it was intentional, and that I was a member of a group called the society for the conservation of capitals. (sftcoc) (said soft cock)  and that we believed in not using capitals as they take more bandwidth on the internet to transmit, as well as more energy to put up on your screen, so by not using capitals, we were saving both limited resources.

it took me a long time to figure out what A/all T/this C/crap was about. in my head it sounds like a stutter when i read it, which is not an attractive thing. i don't use it. i generally don't bother with capital letters online unless i'm using them to emphasize something i'm saying... i grew up in chatrooms, it feels like sometimes, but not the D/s kind... see, when i type D/s, it looks prettier if the d is capitalized... but generally i only use it if i'm referring to specific dominant person who has either asked me to or is important to me (with my old Sir, he only made me bother with it when i was talking to or about him in his dominant mode, when i was just writing a normal letter it didn't matter.)

i will never use slashspeak for any reason. not only does it sound like stammering to me, but it looks untidy, the first person i saw doing it was a pretentious fuck, it takes up valueable typing time, is difficult to read, and the way i see it, if someone is being addressed as part of a vast mixed group of both submissives and dominants, and they're VERY OFFENDED by me not addressing them by a capital letter or a lowercase one (are there also subbies who get OFFENDED if you capitalize their names? should there be? it makes some kind of logical sense, but then the sub couldn't tell if you were just using good grammar...) then they probably deserve to be offended because that's stupid. a hundred people read this and i didn't use two extra keystrokes just to undermine your authority, which really ought to be past the juvenile phase now.

EDIT: because i still can't spell.

It is another of those areas where if it bugs some other folks... thats THEIR analy retentive problem. They are not in a position to make demands of how I or anyone else writes. So tough!

Personaly it started when running written excersises with various past girls, Using it Myself to re-inforce it on them and as a result picking up the habit. I do find it adds a little extra information when discussing with others who also use it, clearly defining who or Who is being refered to.

Whilst the slash T/them etc does also add a little of that manner... it isn't enough IMO to justify how much harder it makes it to read. Just capitalisation doesn't make it much harder at all. I maybe use it when making a particular point but I don't like trying to read (And thus will oft skip) a post full of it, hence I don't use it much and it hasn't ever became habit like caping has.
