Kalista07 -> cat question (4/14/2008 11:38:34 AM)

So, last week i got my cat fixed.  {Yes, actually He was broken, as he kept peeing on all of our stuff...grrrr}.  Since then He's been so loving, kind, and cuddly... The only problem is i think he may be stealing my soul or something because somehow he keeps convincing me to lay down with him.  My question is, before the surgery he would NEVER let me lay down with him.  Generally (when he felt like it) he would come lay on top of me, but would never lay with me...... Does anyone know if this behavior is likely to continue?
Thanks,
Kali

cats are not stupid. It was YOU that packed his ass in a crate and hauled him to a vet to have his balls removed. Your cat is fully aware of this and is not pleased. You only THINK he is being loving and affectionate. The truth is he is setting you up.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: cat question (4/14/2008 11:47:39 AM)

his masculinity is gone...now he's female....so his feminine feelings are coming out in full force!

Kalista07 -> RE: cat question (4/14/2008 11:50:34 AM)

LMAO......Holly, You crack me up!!!  i keep looking at the cat and trying to remind the cat that HE wanted it done just as much as i did......  Although, truth be told i think He and the cat are in this together...Male bonding bullshit!!!

GothishNomad -> RE: cat question (4/14/2008 11:53:18 AM)

It depends on the cat - I have 2 - when Rozzi got the snip she spent 2 months rolling over in front of any one in the house to show off her hysterectomy scar but now wont let any but me touch her. Ambrose hid in a closet for almost a month - literally I had to put a litter box in there - but fortunately he has recovered back to the sketchy little bastard he was before; coming & going as he pleases and occasionally attacking the unsuspecting. So without actually answering - it can either be a phase of readjustment or a life-altering event - but hey if someone had you forcibly castrated you'd need sometime to find yourself too. :-)

sirsholly -> RE: cat question (4/14/2008 11:59:20 AM)

it could be he just has more time for affection now that he is not peeing on the furniture and has no balls to lick.

Actually i have 5 cats...all fixed. The situation occured with two of the 5, both females. During the day they either sleep or interact (ie fight) with the other cats. The affection happens at night when we are trying to sleep. Truthfully i cannot recall if the degree of affection decreased...i am pretty sure it stayed the same.

Kalista...i have never met your cat, but i SERIOUSLY think he would call bullshit on this. [;)]

edited to add....oops...the HE in which you speak is not the cat..is it? I misread. Apologies!!

pahunkboy -> RE: cat question (4/14/2008 12:04:39 PM)

you have become the cats "partner".

it should last.   the key is to let him come to you.  cats have to think it is THEIR idea.

FR:  He's terrified.  He piddles a little and you do THIS to him?  He's just wondering what the hell the turkey in the freezer did to piss you off... (old animal joke).

hmmmmmmmmmmm......i'm begging to feel a little bit bad.....You guys don't think it was wrong that every day until i took him to the vet i used to tell him that i was going to have his balls cut off (almost singing it to him). Do You?

xxblushesxx -> RE: cat question (4/14/2008 1:07:24 PM)

I think he's probably very relieved that he doesn't have to worry about servicing all the neighborhood female felines. It's a lot of work!
(seriously, though, some animals,-including men and women-can become so distracted thinking about sex that they can't be bothered with anything else, he probably is happier now.)

CalifChick -> RE: cat question (4/14/2008 1:07:35 PM)

Reminds me of an old Far Side cartoon I like.  Dog hanging out of the back window of the car, talking to his dog friend in the yard.  Dog in the car says, "I'm so excited!  I'm going to the vet to get TUTORED!"

domahpet -> RE: cat question (4/14/2008 3:39:36 PM)

well i now have an idea of what im in for.
my kid Peacepipe has made me a grandmother wayyyyy
before my time. his trip is coming very soon.......

eta, ive never had a male before.

kiwisub12 -> RE: cat question (4/14/2008 5:23:15 PM)

you do know that we are all slaves to our cats - and he is just waiting to get your Sir alone  - and will tell him to "Run, run like the wind. Look what she did to me!!!"

and in  a slightly more serious note (but not much) your male cat will be more sedate, and probably cuddly.  My guys didn't ever hold it against me for too long!

missfrillypants -> RE: cat question (4/14/2008 5:37:30 PM)

cats, especially male cats, become more mellow when they get fixed. i think it might be something to do with the hormones. and yes, cats are very capable of hypnotising you into cuddling with them. scientists are actually saying that they think cats domesticated themselves, which makes total sense if you've met one. they saw how the dogs were getting fed and petted and stuff by humans and they were like "i can do that better. you: silly human! aren't i adorable? don't you love me??? don't you want to give me food? *purr purr* it was subtle mind control from the very begining.
