I've met a couple friends off the internet, and a couple relationships have spawned from it.

As for percentages?  No shows are probably 50%.

The fact that I like to actually meet a person face to face earlier rather than later plays a huge part in this.  If I were the type to have a long drawn-out courtship in the net, I suspect the percentage of no-shows at meet-up would go down, but the percentage of people disappearing before we got to setting up a meeting would be higher.

As it is, I often have one very pleasant conversation with someone and then they become a black hole.  These confuse me the most, as they are not sexually explicit conversations.

I have only ever met one person in real life who I first met online; it was not at this site, and was quite ironically at a site dedicated primarily to what I do for work.  This, I think, is part of why the situation worked out nicely; I knew they were scorchingly intelligent before I ever saw them face to face, and the rest happened to work out nicely.

So I'm 1 / 1, and I don't anticipate that changing at any point in the near future.  There is so much uncertianty around online dealings that someone really, really has to impress me before I'd be willing to let them into my life as anything more than a few pixels on a monitor.

I've met upwards of about 15-20 people from various online venues; some males, some females, some as friends, some as potential doms that grew into relationships, which fizzled out.  I don't think they fizzled out because they began as online connections, but more likely because of the 'types' I chose.

I had one no-show, and it really pissed me off.  It was the first and only time in my life that I was stood up. We had been speaking several times a day on the phone for about 2 weeks.  I think he was on the rebound and had gotten back together with her in the interim.  It was a very shitty feeling to be all dressed up and waiting for him in the lobby of the hotel that we were supposed to have dinner in.  Oh, and the guy was from CM.  But then I met 3 other men from CM who actually showed up.  I had a disasterous relationship with one them.   And I'm still friends with the other 2 even though nothing worked out on a Ds relationship level.

I think the internet is as good a place as any to make connections.  Most people out there aren't my type, but there are a few needles in the haystack, whether you meet them online or off.

im curious... what percentage of meet ups end in 'no show'.

I have never had a "no show" of anyone that I orginally came in contact with via the Internet that was decide we would meet.

considering how often this is tossed out, either subs must be the ones almost always causing the problems, or dom/me's are simply the ones that complain about it the most.

I didn't find the initial question interesting but I found a lot to like in this comment.

Thanks!
