Trance is an offchoot of Techno, Popye. It's steady rythums are calculated to put the listener into an ecstatic, trance-like state... sort of a hypnotic/dance beat. Cool stuff really, and great for public scening and play parties.

Popeye doesnt strike me as being trance music type.  While it can be dance music as in disco- lately iit is turn that monotonous crap off.   think of it as a LONGG disco [w teckno] song that doesnt quite end, ever.

Trance awakes images of beaches on Goa and Koh Pan Gan - waving your hands at the full moon type of sounds... Aphex Twins is more like Ambient house (as in Ambien, for sleep lol). I wouldn't say The Chemical Brothers make trance, it's big beat more than anything.

But who cares about labels? When it's done well, dance is the ultimate musical high [8D] .

The problem with the Chemical brothers is they try to make your ears bleed with their elastic eye. You have to love Loops of Fury though.[8|]

Aye those were the days, I wasn't there but they were the days apparently.

I would classify Orqesta Kache as trance myself; it always puts me to sleep.
Yep Britney spears is trance
Yep Rhianna is trance
Yep bla bla etc.

these...are SOOOOOOO NOT trance.  i have listened to trance music since 1994.    there is trance music that has no vocals...and then there is trance music with awesome female vocals.  yes male vocals exist but usually suck like crap.
