Bush isn't a Republican he's a robber baron.
He's a mouthpiece for big business.
As for "feeling" the Democrats are always "feeling" for foreign countries and not the people here in the U.S. that's one of their bigest weaknesses.
They'd walk right by a homeless person here without so much as a glance while they were, "worried about AIDS in Africa".
They're phoneys.
At least with Bush you "know" he's an Asshole.
I think I put my finger on it, ...Democrats just aren't cool.

Status: offline 		         If you read back, Tee, you'll see that I said rock bands tend to avoid any sort of traditional patriotism.  Do you figure that any sort of pride in or love for ones country is exclusively a Republican trait?  That only either ambivelence or hostility towards it are acceptable Democrat stances?

         I expect to see a change in this at some point.  It might even be the next major movement in hard rock.

Status: offline 		This isn't surprising at all. There hasn't been anything truly edgy about "rock and roll" music for decades. It's not surprising that the same people who want to control everything so that they can continue to control everything are interested in tame, watered down music that's been in the wash so long that anything about it that wasn't harmless is now forgotten about.

I don't expect people who are still exposing himself to the same media over and over again for decades to be enlightened enough to realize why they should avoid voting republican.

Not at all! I think that pride and love for one's country is not a polarizing issue...until someone suggests that you can't speak out against the policies of said country in the name of patriotism.

See? He's an asshole!
It'd be one thing if he used his own money to do that but why should I or anyone else in this country be expected  to pay for Aids in Africa?
That's another game that the Dems are always playing especially around election time, "The Great White Bwanna."
They push Ted Kennedy to the front of the stage for that gig.
He never met a Black person he didn't "like."  Swishy.
They promise the Blacks the universe every election and nothing ever changes in the inner cities.
But, they "feel" for them!

Status: offline 		JFYI, I'm 60 years old and a veteran and still Rockin'. When I choose to vote, I vote Democratic. Not because I think they are so great, I don't, but because in the two party system that we currently have, they represent my views a lot more than the Rebublicans do.

This is getting away from politics and more towards musical taste, but this is the exact opposite of what I would consider edgy. Another alternative rock band doing the Sonic Youth/Nirvana quiet verse/loud chorus sound structure that's been done over and over again for years. Lyrics that sound like a 16 year old trying to piss off their parents while accomplishing nothing of importance (No message.) and tame enough to appease rich white men who run their record lable...I'm well versed in this band and I think they're everything that's wrong with music. I agree that there's great music out there, I don't think that you'll find much of it on the radio. This is more my taste.

Status: offline 		It doesn't surprise me, rock covered the hippy era 65-75, hippies tended to be middleclass kids that dropped out and later dropped back in, many enjoying the cream of plenty in their youth. Punks (1976-) were generally workingclass who had never been in in the first place to drop out and appear to remain left wing (in Britain at least, as far as I can tell).

The article mentions that 30% of the respondents were demopubs and 22% were republicrats.  Then without giving any numbers it says that men tended to be republicrats and women tended to be demopubs.  This based on only 52% of those responding,of which only 22% stated they were republicrats; they draw from that that male rockers favor the republicrats....

If, when you speak of the demopubs you mean these individuals then you should say these particular individuals.  To do other wise would be the equivalent of someone saying all officers are smart and all enlisted men are stupid.
You have read enough of my posts to know that I hold no truck with fools no matter which political strip they bear.
There already is a group of politicos who are called "progressive" and none of those you mention are part of it.  I am speaking of LaFollette and those of that mindset.

Status: offline 		Rock music isn't rebellious anymore - which is why they play it at Reps rallies. Sorry, cjan, but Nickelback are laundry detergent stuff. As are Green Day and other assorted radio FM staples.

When they play hardcore dance choons and raps rants at political rallies, I'll start believing change is on its way  .
