mzbehavin -> CyberStalker? (3/27/2008 8:31:49 PM)

Has anyone on CM met someone through email here, gone to IM, got to know that person, had them go MIA, then re-surface 3 months later with a new persona and have another go at you?
I suspect this has happened to me.
Its very odd...
Why would someone do that?
Thanks for your help~ mz.behavin

pissdoll -> RE: CyberStalker? (3/27/2008 8:45:36 PM)

i would assume this person was in a relationship and was almost caught, hence the disappearing act.

now that person is back again with a new profile that will last until he/she is almost caught again.

i could be wrong.....but i doubt it.

Pyrrsefanie -> RE: CyberStalker? (3/27/2008 8:52:07 PM)

After a while, all of the "OMG UR HOT PLZ BEAT ME" messages start to blur together, so I wouldn't be able to pick out a real personality enough to identify a secondary profile.

I just get the same messages from the same profile at least one every month or so after I've already declined their offer of hawt kinky sex.  It's very annoying.

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: CyberStalker? (3/27/2008 8:57:36 PM)

naw..nobody's had the guts to come back after me ...once we first met!

FEAR ME!

mzbehavin -> RE: CyberStalker? (3/27/2008 11:28:10 PM)

pissdoll, yes, totally possible.
Pyrrsefanie, the reason i thought it was maybe the same guy was because of some key phrases he used. Thankfully he wasnt that illiterate, though Lord knows we get plenty of those "ur so hawt messages". Also, key things in common, high profile job, single, no kids, and over 40.
The 2nd time we hadnt spoke on the phone yet or i would have known his voice. It doesnt matter now, he's blocked, deleted etc.
I just dont get it.. People are strange~
faery, lol, too funny. Thank you all for responding. xoxo

Kirren -> RE: CyberStalker? (3/27/2008 11:52:20 PM)

I have one that doesnt speak, but stalks My profile, pics or no, and that sends submissives to My profile to read My journal and things of that nature.  Its kinda creepy. But...Ill feed them to the snake...Im not worried.

JulieorSarah -> RE: CyberStalker? (3/28/2008 12:31:51 AM)

i'm a sub, there's a male sub who keeps asking for an online chat, keeps approaching me.  I block him and he comes back.  so i just delete/block him each time.  it's not scarey, just why doesn't he accept it's not my thing?

They do it to everyone hun. I had one that would email Me once a week with nothing more than "hello"

No idea if that was all he could type....no idea if I knew him....just "hello"

Sometimes ya gotta throw some bricks.

In short, because people are stupid.

To the original point, see what I just said.  Fundamentally, people do many inexplicable things, and I have long since given up trying to explain what exactly is going through their heads (possibly nothing) when they do them.  My advice is just ignore him and move on.  It's not a problem unless someone is trying to drag things beyond online repeatedly, and then there are legal avenues of recourse.

Or you can just own a shotgun.

kittinSol -> RE: CyberStalker? (3/28/2008 6:37:34 AM)

I have a collarme stalker who knows me very personally - funnily enough, it was a vanilla relationship, so they must have done serious detective work to find me. I'm flattered that I made such an impression on them that they feel the need to pursue me here so many years later, but still hope for their sake that they will soon get a life of their own.

mzbehavin -> RE: CyberStalker? (3/28/2008 7:58:53 AM)

domahpet -> RE: CyberStalker? (3/28/2008 8:09:24 AM)

i got one too, a college professor no less!
every three months or so he shows up with a new ID,

him hello, its *** from *********.
me oh, its you again, another new profile?
him oh you know, the last one broke down, (or whatever)
me so, are you here to harrass me again?
him well if you hadnt been such a bitch last time....

then 3 or 4 more messages of what a f****** c*** i am
because i decided not more mmet with him after i met Zee,
and what a f**** lying b**** i am because i wont answer his questions
about Zee (questions usually relating to sex).

i wish i had a quiet one too, all the name calling really bites.

check your msgs...ugh!!! show the hubby!

JulieorSarah -> RE: CyberStalker? (3/28/2008 9:17:25 PM)

I had another one from europe, 20.
Him: hi how are you?(don't you just love the effort they put into it?)
Me:  over being approached by people who have either not read my profile or have read it and choose to ignore it.  How are you? (my first mistake.)
Him:  i am sorry to hear that... i am doing pretty good just being bored... what you up too? (alarm bells ringing now)
Me:  Why did you contact me?
Him:  Because you are looking to be dominated. (i'm like quasi moto now)
Me:   You are another one who has not read my profile or has chosen to ignore it!
         I'm in Australia, NSW, Southern Highlands, seeking a 'local' for face to face contact who is in their 40s or 50s.
         How do you fit that criteria?
         HOW DOES A 20YEAR OLD FROM THE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE FIT THAT CRITERIA.
         ANOTHER IDIOT TO ADD TO THE LIST!
         Go away.
Him:   but we can still chat if you dont mind!
me:   i bloody well do

this is when i blocked him ... and i'm not even a blonde!

MissMorrigan -> RE: CyberStalker? (3/29/2008 5:42:46 AM)

I think the term 'cyber stalker' is generally misused. Quite often, we talk with so many different people online that it's little wonder we come across those that seem 'familiar' to us (I'm not saying this is what has happened in your case, you know better than anyone if it's the same person or not). It's also possible that on site ssuch as this we'll encounter those who have changed their profiles repeatedly. It's easy to socially engineer yourself online - it's often a person's only outlet in life.

As for stalking itself, it's not fun. I had an American cyberstalker for years. I used to frequent a chat room in the Dallas section of Yahoo Chat as I once lived in Austin/Dallas and found it was a quick/easy/cheap way to keep in contact with many I had met. One day, a guy came in and began berating everyone, just being a dick and I asked him why he felt so empowered by such silly online behaviour... From that day on he made my online life a misery. I've often read comments from people who have taken the high ground and stated, "Dont allow others online to have effect on your personal emotional life"... Easier said than done. This guy had set a team of script kiddies on my case, who revelled at using every boot program available to not only gain my msn/yahoo passwords by using a program that grabbed my IP and got him instant access to those accounts, but also every contact on those lists - family, friends, etc... Thankfully, I had two IPs as I kept my business separate from my home life (thank goodness!), so he couldn't wreak havoc with that. He and his team of useless articles then spent their time logging movement I made from the moment I connected to the internet each day. Even changing my IP made no difference b/c they quickly had the new one again the moment I used any site/messenger I was affiliated with.

As a result of the above, I am no longer in contact with ANY of those I had become friends with, due to the persistent harassment caused by that individual and his cronies, who took delight in taking their personal contact information and running rampant with it.

As for people emailing with a simple 'hello', if that what is considered 'cyber stalking' you've led a very sheltered life!

pahunkboy -> RE: CyberStalker? (3/29/2008 8:06:13 AM)

I lost track of a buddy in Ireland. We used to talk all the time.  I am patiently waiting for him.   His texts come back -  no reply to email.  Ireland cell phones cost a fortune to call.

EPGAH -> RE: CyberStalker? (3/29/2008 8:25:55 AM)

I had exactly the opposite: Someone writing to me here back and forth, then we were GOING to go IM, the other person never showed, and when I messaged asking why, I got blocked...Hilarious for THEM, less so for me...

mzbehavin -> RE: CyberStalker? (3/29/2008 9:33:15 AM)

domahpet~ How tiresome for you. MissMorrigan~ That is definately being cyberstalked and not in the fun way. In my case, there were no threats or personal attacks. Just a come in, mindfuck, then go~ Rinse, repeat as a new persona.
So i'm trying to figure out what it is about me in paticular makes this so attractive to the guy. It cant be good. That said, no, im not stupid, yes i am learning, and yes intuition is huge for me. Especially now.
Somone mailed me offboards and said there are a number of repeat offenders on CM. Not that we didnt already know that, but they are being ferreted out, and always always give themselves away in the end.
Good luck everyone. pahunkboy, i hope you hear from your friend! Thank you everyone for responding. xoxo

MissMorrigan -> RE: CyberStalker? (3/29/2008 10:01:29 AM)

All the whilst that nutter was on my case it was better for my friends if I had no contact especially as he invited himself into their personal lives, causing them grief/annoyance.

As for your friend in Ireland, how about getting a phone card for $10? When I was engaged to a guy in Austin he would buy phonecards rather than use his housefone as the charges that way were exorbitant.
