ORIGINAL: domiguy I don't think it is necessarily only the rich...In fact I would think more of the lower to middle class are the ones that are getting riled up over the horrible influx of illegals. Sanity, the fact is that this will pass with probably little getting done...Should we secure our borders...Yep. Should we be more concerned about the "illegal" employers than the workers....Damn straight! If I was a poor Mexican and had access to American employment I would be over that fence in a heartbeat. How can you blame them? This is going to be the gay marriage topic of '08. You get a group of white people together who can't understand how and why the world has changed and you remind them about how good things were in the past and all of the horrors and evils that they face today....You don't give a damn about actually solving any problems your job is to say you know where the problem lies and to point out to them who is to blame for all of the ills they are so afraid of. Four years ago it was homos....This time around it is Mexicans. Where is the amendment to ban gay marriages? There's a power ebb and flow at work here, in all these things. Without opposition gay marriage would have been the norm by now, it's not but gays have made fantastic strides in the past twenty to thirty years. In Conservative Idaho my own kid plays daily with a child from just down the road who was adopted by a lesbian couple, and no one says a thing these days. Neither the far left nor the far right get all they want, as usual, but things do change. There has also been some movement on the southern front, with the illegals. There have been some high profile raids by the feds, John McCain has said that he's heard voter anger in that regard, and efforts at the state and local level in many places seem to be making a big difference too. You made some pretty good points, I'm surprised to find myself in so much agreement with you. You made me stop and think a little bit. But I disagree in that I don't think all of the pundits and talking heads are all the same, that is I don't think they all have a "scare whitey" agenda at all. Some may, but I think they're a diverse crowd with differing motives. But in this you're right, a key to deciphering them is understanding their motives. Some just want ratings, and will go on and on and on about the missing blonde babe who went partying on Aruba. A person can see right through most of them, with a critical eye and some practice. quote:
It's kind of sad how people will buy into this kind of shit. None of these fuckers, Lou Dobbs etc., are interested in solving any problems there only concern is finding the topic du jour to scare the pants off of whitey...as long as their name gets mentioned that is all they are about. If we had bigger brains and actually used them maybe we wouldn't be so easily duped. I think our brains are big enough, some of us. Using our brains takes a lot of time though. And who's got a lot of time? Just sitting down to pound out a decent reply here can be difficult if a person has a life. And what's with all this "whitey" shit. This seems new. Has the news got us all divided now, suddenly seeing everything in colors? Is this the change that Obama keeps talking about?
