ORIGINAL: JohnSteed1967 Is that why so many men have commitment issues? Is that we all think that IF we stay single that we will find a Hot Model with a never ending Sex drive? or that as long as we are not tied down then we have the chance to bang every woman that comes down the road? This may sound stupid, but I imagine that its more work being Hugh Hefner or Mystery for the new generation. Than actually being the person inside the persona. I am commitment averse for two very clear reasons: 1 - I have quite high standards, and I refuse to compromise them under any circumstances. I don't enjoy the company of most people, and I don't mind being alone, so for someone to be worth any level of commitment, they need to be very compelling as an individual. The end result is that I can count, on one hand with three spare fingers and one thumb, the number of people I've ever found I'd be willing to make a genuine commitment to. 2 - In general, I don't trust people. I'm very patient with regard to humans. I have to wait to see someone in a situation where their true colors will emerge before I'm going to be willing to even consider any kind of commitment, and those do not arrive on a day to day basis. I would rather, however, be at least somewhat secure in my judgment than in the dark. Therefore, someone would both have to meet my standards and demonstrate to me that they are the kind of person I could trust in a truly commited relationship before I'd jump in; to be fair, I expect they would judge me on the same criteria. I confess I don't give a flying fuck at a rolling donut about "the chance to bang every woman that comes down the road", to paraphrase Vonnegut, regarding the initial post, though. I'm just a loner. I don't sleep around because, in general, I tend to be unwilling to sleep with most people under any circumstances. Edit: Regarding playboy and that ideal... why? It seems like such a hollow, meaningless existence to me. Maybe that's just a personal preference issue, though.
