I love it when my teens don't think they're "too cool" to hang out and converse with the older members of the extended family at Thanksgiving- and charm the pants off everyone just by being themselves. ([:D] Proud Mama!!)

I love spending the day behind Master on His Road King and riding down to the Keys for lunch on the water and then riding back.

I love that on Sunday morning, I'm taking my grandmother to visit my grandfather's grave. She hasn't been out there since she (finally!) gave up her car last spring (she's 97). I don't know why I thought to do this- I think it was my grandfather's idea, but that's another story.....

I love the following exchange which occurred just a few minutes ago between the 5 yr old and myself.  The background is that I fell asleep in my recliner early last night (since I was up at 4:30 am to go shopping):

Kid:  Mommy, did you see the movie that was on tv last night when you woke up to go to bed?
Me:  Yes, it was Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaur.
Kid:  Mommy, what kind of animal is Manny?
Me:  He's a mastadon.
Kid:  A astrodom?
Me:  No, a MAS... TA... DON
Kid:  A masterdom?
Me (collapsing into gigglefits):  No honey, not a MASTERDOM, but a MAS-TAHHHH-DONNNNN.

One day, Thing 2 was walking outside, with cops & robbers set in hand.  I asked her what she was doing, running off with her badge and handcuffs, bandana... had anyone broken the law?  She looked me dead in the face, smiled, and said, "No, sometimes it's just nice to tie up your friends."   [8|]

You just have no idea... some of the things that are said around here in complete innocence make me wonder if there may not be some weird genetic component to all this.  *giggles*

i love it when:
He unpacks the perfectly organised re-packaged tree, sets it out neatly in piles, sets out the perfectly re-wound strings of lights, and the ornaments in their intact original packages....and then tosses all his personal truths about order aside to make room for the other occupant to "help". i love it when i am elbow deep in a 20# mass of leftover turkey and i hear from the next room, the man i love the most talking to the boy i love even more, in the upbeat, calm tone of a veteran 2nd grade teacher...especially considering he has never had to use that voice before this year. Making a holiday memory, if not for o.o. (who knows what they choose to remember) but at the very least for me...for the rest of my life.

...I am one of the first customers today from the agency who came to install my stupid digital TV's (I hate having a digital TV but no signals here [>:])...so no waiting around for hours until they finally turned up...I just got here via train from my night shift when I received a call that they get here in about 20 minutes...which was fine as I got home in about 15 minutes...that's what I call timing [:D] Proper TV again...at last [:)]
