Status: offline 		models.  they will not be a dumping junk yard.   so- if you own a 1998 model it becomes more valuable next week.  Yay.  or- will there be a spike in thefts of 1998 models for export??

i live a couple miles away from the factory...
will they want them back for recycling?

I just get irritated when we send them back illegal immigrants to be recycled into new illegal immigrants.

Then again, maybe they've just got someone in legislature who wanted to stick it to used car salesmen

Status: offline 		Y'know things like this burn me up to the point that if I expressed my whole opinion on it I would be in danger of getting thrown off CM.

So Mexico is allowed to protect it's trade interests and we are not ? That is bullshit. Maybe our government should only allow quality products into the country, oh they can't, both China and the Walmart lobby would be pissed off.

They can have those. I owned one. If I'd seen the 'final assembly plant' before I bought it, or if I'd known to look for it, I would never have bought it. Most problematic piece of shit I've ever owned. And that's counting the '89 Geo Metro Hatchback I owned overseas.

Status: offline 		Maybe theres a zillion 1998 used cars to be had? So who knows, one more crazy government rule to try and get around?

I think its all about rule making to people elected or placed in office who need to justify their jobs. New rules also make new rule violaters. New violaters mean more incomes from fines. More violaters making the news, means people who make the rules are doing their jobs and cleaning up our streets and neighborhoods to be safe for law abiding citizens. No matter how silly the rules. Its a form of civilized insanity.
