Leaving aside such minor issues such as reality (!) what kind of society would people dream of living in? i would love a return to a more traditional society where women are very much submissive to their men and expected to be obedient to them. What does anyone else think?

We did this at uni, a utopia and it was actually really difficult writing the ideal because everything has flaws, I do love Leatherists response and idealy a totally equal exsistance with no judgement but that would never work my g/f says "i want anarchy" but i wouldnt want that either. I have ready brave new world, handmaids tale and 1984 all to look at various ideas of society and to be honest all of them were terrifying, my idea of heaven would be anothers of hell. Like despite being a sub the idea of having a society where women were submissive i would hate. I just crave a world where people take an extra second to try and put themselves in the others shoes.

I would like to see a society where the caustic nature of today's interactions was greatly reduced. I have no problem calling my submissive a slut, whore, bitch, etc., etc.. I have been lovingly called an evil, twisted, sadistic bastard/son-of-a-bitch/etc.. But that was between myself and mine. I do have a problem listening to people making statements such as "Yo, my whore...how goes it?" or "you bastard, how are ya?". I'd like a little more civility, please. But there again, that is what I would like...others seem to like the stripping away of societal conventions. All I can do is make it clear to those who wish to spend time around me that I like all the little common courtesies and civilities and will walk away from a disagreement in which only one party expects to be heard or from someone who wishes to speak to me in a way that I consider inappropriate.

There is a uniqueness in all of us, how we relate is part of the individuality that makes you "you". Consider this...would being a sub/slave be special in any way if it were enforced, or if you were made to feel that it was in some way "expected" of you? For me, it would not. i'm not one that speaks of the "gift of submission"...but there is a level of intimacy in D/s that stands out from more mainstream relationships...for me, that mental connection sparks the heat, which becomes more intense on a physical level, and i don't need society to let me know it's right...it just works for me.

I would much rather see myself pampered by a bunch of straight Chippendale dancers....lol Okay, in all seriousness, I find the idea of my being submissive rather offensive and against my nature in general. My "hackles" are up at the idea that all women should be submissive to men. That said, I think we as a "lifestyle society" should be allowed to do the things we like to do consensually (no mater which partner is submissive) without suffering prejudice or ostracising from the population as a whole. We still have a long way to go from the opressive feudal systems of the past. Quite frankly, anything that puts us back there is going to be offensive to me.

I would hate living in a society where women were expected to be subserviant to men. Let it be by my choice and not by expectations, that I act in a way most comfortable for me. On the flipside I would not like living in a world dominated by women either. My idea society? This one. Where I have a choice to stretch my social station, go to school, build my business, and speak to people as my equal, no matter what their role in life. Kyst

A world of endless opportunity for someone with the will and ability to take what they wanted, create what they wanted, and found entire nations if they had the ambition for it. Say... someone exactly like me. But of course I didn't... I'm here now, I'm alive now... and this lil town I've moved to still doesn't suspect a thing! Oh if only they knew... [8D]

So I don't 'dream' I live it already. And it pretty much rocks. I get to serve and submit to a wonderful man and master, raise fabulous children, enjoy good food and get to smile an awful lot. I see sunsets and raise to a dawn chorus and smell the air on a spring morning. Who needs dreams with such reality? the.dark.

i, as a single mother can't imagine having to live in a society where all women are submissive. yes, i am submissive, but not always. i can't and won't be submissive at work and out in the world...i'm fending for myself and my children and that is my main objective at the moment. would i love to live in a fantasy world? hell yes, but like what many have said, my fantasy might not be yours. traditional societies are fine on paper and in fantasies, but reality trumps fantasy every single fucking time.

~Fast Reply~ No "every X must be submissive" silliness. Just a society where everyone gets the choice to be dominant or submissive as their nature leads them to be, where our choices can be respected and where that slave SPCA I keep joking about actually exists.
