Doll, nothing wrong with what you're doing, keeping an ete out for this, but I must express one objection. Fat free. Realize this, fat in the diet does not necessarily become fat in the body. Also the presence of fat is required for the normal absorption of certain essential nutrients. Eliminating fat from the diet will not eliminate fat from the body, it simply does not work that way. You should get full milk, not nonfat. There is a reason that whole milk costs four times as much, a VERY good reason. If you really don't like whole milk and prefer the whit water, mix your own. Add your own water to whole milk. Use real butter, but less of it. If you have to have sugar use dark brown sugar, but if you can make the switch to honey that is even better. If you are not vegetarian I assume there is some meat in your freezer. Make a minimum of 20% of your diet meat, unless you don't eat meat. If you don't eat meat you need to supplement yourself in many ways. Whether vegan, vegetarian or not, I recommend nuts. Planter's mixed nuts do not have any hydrogonated oils in them. Oh, to mention that, no margarine, no Crisco, no a bunch of other things. Unless you want to die a slow death. If you don't eat meat I would recommend heavy mineral supplements, forget vitamins, you don't need them, you need the minerals. Nuts, spices, things like that. Not just peanuts, I mean alot of different kinds of nuts, don't pick and choose, just grab a handful. Spices, well I certainly do not mean table salt here. In fact if you use regular table salt now I say stop. Start using MrsDash. There are quite a few varieties now and even though they contain no salt, they taste like they do. And if you need salt, get the unrefined kind. That stuff on the grocery shelf is poison. The stuff that syas "Do not leave open or clumping will occur". THAT is what you want. Why, because the exact same additive that keeps it from clumping keeps it from being absorbed properly by your body. I stopped using standard table salt a long time ago and I am not sorry. I am getting to the point now that even if I am going to boil something and want to put salt in the pot, it is my five dollar a pound seasalt. It costs three times that much now. That is because they know some people know what it can do for them. I hope I did not drag you into some sort of muck, I am trying to be helpful. I know I'm off the beaten path. But the crux of what I am saying is to get the real stuff for yourself, like in the case of the milk. You can add your own water to it, and really, there is no such thing as nonfat milk. Milk by definition has fat in it. Here's another reason they call me the Terminator and it has nothing to do with physical strength. Y'know the packaging of "milk", whether it is real milk, fake milk, or iced tea for that matter is the same. The only real difference is the color of the cap. Of course you can let iced tea out, whereas milk you have to keep cold. but that is not the point. Point is do the math. I can and did. Regular milk is 3.5%, so compare the price of 1%. Note that all packaging costs are the same, and it all has to be fridged of course. It seems that the default is 2% now with alot of people. With the math I determined that one could just dilute their own whole milk with water and could break even at least, and if that is not true anymore it proves my point. They are selling something out of it. With anything other than whole milk they are duping you, because they are no doubt selling the best components of it. Otherwise they would tell you to go mix it with water. But instead they package it, and take less money for it. Lofat, nofat, it is drummed into your head. Well let me back up a bit for those who don't get it. Ever hear of vitamins ? If you even believe the vitamin theory as they now have it, let me clue you in, vitamins A, D, E and K can't be absorbed in the absence of fat. If you study further you find that the human body actually breaks down and remanufactures any and all vitamins from what you eat. Upon further investigation I found that there are flaws in the way they conduct research. Ask for a thread on that and I will oblige. But not right now. Vitamin is an old word, it's roots are vita which means life, and min, which is the root of the English word mineral. All this said, which was probably not expected, I have formed a basic opinion about this. I have not given you all the evidence, nor my modifications to the plan, but it is in my mind. And I fear it will work. (I'll splian that upon request) What worked a hundred tears ago. Maybe a bit more. Before hydrogenation, there would be no pie crusts on the shelf. They used lard. Lard sounds like a nasty thing but it is not. it is simply animal fat, which has been rended. Even with NYC's new law, I am pretty sure it is legal to use lard there. My Dad was in the store not too long ago after we had a discussion about this transfat thing. He is 69 and has time on his hands. He read some labels and brought back some interesting info. There is apparently lard on the shelf that is better than almost anything when it comes to fats. I'll have to ask him when I see him about that again. At 69 it's a good thing to jog his memory anyway. Your grocery list isn't so bad, but with nonfat dairy products you might as well just mix some white paint with water. It doesn't take much. You said "Need help with my shopping list", and actually I did my best, but it is possible that now you are in a quandry about it. If that's the case, sorry. Be well. Get some meat ! (or alot of nuts and spices) T
