I just measured myself for the first time in ages and I'm 44 inches under my breasts and 51 inches around them...does that mean I'm a 44F? It says my cup would be dddd but I've never seen that size shopping before and lanebryant has F cup after ddd...oh and I'm in the US...heres the size chart I was looking at:

http://www.barenecessities.com/fit_sizing.asp

I used to be 47 inches under and 54 inches over and I wore a 48ddd...which is still what I'm wearing and it fits fine LOL but I'd love to wear a smaller band size

The measurments don't help. You'll have to post a picture for me to answer what size you are.

Exactly...and by the way.....

There isn't a man on the planet that gives a shit about this crap because....your pant sizes change with the wind, your shirt sizes make absofuckinglootly no sense whatsoever....and I'll bet you 50 bucks...if I bought you a fucking hat...it wouldn't fit.

And by the way...that fucking moon shot, NASA...physics PhD shit that some sick fuck came up with to figure out bra sizes....he is one sick motherfucker....and I'd like to kill him.

And I swear to gawwwwd...all you chics absolutely fucking dig this shit....it's like a college dorm thing...you all talk amongst yourselves about how men don't "get it"...and then you spend the next 30 years going....

"Where are the men.....Let's fuck them up even more!!!!"

Let's be real clear here...I'll speak for the rest of maledom (it's my job)....we don't want to know...we know you don't want us to know, and for all your own sick diabolical reasons....and we don't care.....

We are entirely happy with buying you an outfit that will never fit (largely because we actually see you in that size...because we always have....and we actually don't see the rolls that you see in the mirror)....and we're just PEACHY that you're going to return it!

We NEVER assumed it was going to fit anyway!!!!!

So...for all you chics that think we don't "get it"....let's be clear;....we don't.

We don't want to, we don't intend to...and we'll never even assume you believe that we ever did.

(Just fucking wear the shit...even if it doesn't fit).

K?

If you are confused, go to a good lengerie store and have them measure you. When I went for the brides maid dress, they measured me and I was kinda surprised by my measurements all the way around (I have an hourglass figure... who knew?)  but they were nowhere near anything I ever measured when I did it myself at home. Might be worth going in and having done once.

Yes, Bare Necessities does suggest that you measure above.  The reason you want to measure above and not below is because you are larger at the top of the band than at the bottom.  If the bottom is too snug, your bra will dig in and ride up.  You can always call them and ask.  Trish is wonderful.  Have you thought about being measured in perso?  If you have a Nordstrom's close, I would suggest you go there.

I do bra fittings in a department store…  We measure loosely around the fullest part of the chest, and snugly around the rib cage just under the bust.  Subtract these two numbers and each inch difference is a cup size.  I.e. 1in difference=A cup, 2=B, 3=C, 4=D, 5=DD/E, 6=F, 7=G.  So, I’d suggest a 44G and go from there.  If you have a broad back you might need a larger band size and smaller cup size, etc.  If what you're wearing seems to fit maybe try something in the middle.  It depends on the brand too.  Hope this helps.

It is very clear that the bra you are wearing in that picture does not fit.  The middle portion, that comes up between the breasts, should be flat or nearly flat against your breastbone.

To properly measure for a bra, it is important that you take measurements in front of a mirror, to make sure that the tape measure is level.  Measure under your breasts and add 5 inches.  This is your band size.  If it is an odd number, go up to the next even number.

Then measure across the fullest part of your breasts, and subtract that from your band size (not the actual measurement, but the number after you added 5).

The difference is the cup size.  Here is the chart for that:

1/2 inch - AA
1 inch - A
2 inches - B
3 inches - C
4 inches - D
5 inches - DD or E (same thing)
6 inches - F
7 inches - G

You might want to recheck your measurements, because according to the chart, you are a 50A, which you obviously are not.  One reason it's important to measure in a mirror (or allow someone else to measure you).  Also, I suspect your measurements are off because you are wearing a poorly fitting bra in that picture. If your back and shoulders are not broad, I would suspect you probably wear a 46C or 48C.

oh and the adding 5 inches to the band size is the UK way of sizing, not in the US.
