I heard of them, but I'm ashamed to say I never heard them. I stopped going to nightclubs when I left London, give or take a dozen occasions, so it's seriously hindered my current musical knowledge.

Where can I hear them?

PS: I ought to have added Radiohead to my list - wicked band.

I like music of all kinds.  I have been playing the guitar since I was 12.  I like to play bluegrass a lot with friends.  It's a nice hobby to have.

I love folk music, Americana, bluegrass, old country and western, most subgenres of jazz (I like freestyle jazz the most.), swing and big band, blues, traditional folk music from all parts of the world, opera, classical, most rock genres (I am not real keen on the 80's hair bands though), and so on and so forth.

I try not to exclude any particular genre of music.  But I don't generally like rap, hip hop, modern country (it's not country, it's pop with steel guitars.), most pop music.

I think people are surprised that I like a lot of soft rock and new wave music. LOL I never really admit it, but I get caught listening to it.  I think music like that from the 80's reminds me of my childhood, so it's nostalgic for me.  What's weird about that is I hated that music as a kid.  I am actually rediscovering a lot of it as an adult.

It varies, depending on the mood but can be any of those listed below;

Enigma,
Wagner,
My Dying Bride,
Orff,
Opeth,
Sibelius,
Type O Negative,
Vaughan Williams,
Nick Drake,
Gustav Holst,
Meatloaf,
All about Eve,
Kate Bush,
Adam and the Ants,
Loreena McKennit,
Enya,
New Age music, Salsa, Flamenco, Asian and Irish Folk.

Movie soundtracks, often here the music fits the vision admirably, especially the 1492 Conquest of Paradise by Vangelis.

Other soundtack likes include;

Stigmata,
Dune,
Underworld,
The Crow,
LOTR,
Gladiator,
From Dusk till Dawn.

On the whole, I tend to like music which to me paints a picture for me to explore via the sound, or as a friend put it ; 'Deep, Dark and Heavy.

Dislikes, well, jazz has always irritated me, the chaotic sound jars my nerves, that is about it really, jazz is one I avoid based upon the style of music. Anything else might include one hit wonders, pop music and the like, I just don't listen to pop music anymore,

must be getting old.!

As I am sitting here listening to WHAM! (I know, I know, save the jokes).  Music is such a big part of My life,  I was wondering about different musical tastes.  Here are some questions:

What types of music do you listen to most?

I used to hate all the new shit, but this chic I know turned me on to all kinds of stuff I used to call "Angry Music" (I'm 49....I was, then, 45)...it was all this screeching shit...but over time I came to understand it (can't tell you the names of these bands...all I know is some of the bands today are phenonemal, and I'd never have listened to them if not for her).

Who is your most loved singer or band?

Well...that's basic....first, Beatles....then Aerosmith....then...(it's a tie for all 3) Queen.

What type of music can you not stand?

WHAM.

Is there anyone in particular that you love, that would surprise people you know?  Cuz it does not fit into the normal music range for you?

(See first, above)

Personally, I am a huge music fan,,,very very rarely will you ever come into My home and the music is not on.  I have thousands of MP3's and still am always looking for more, I LOVE MUSIC.  I mostly listen to Reggae, R&B and Top 40.  My fave is Buju Banton (HUH????), I fkn LOVE that man, lol,,,
I also really like Vybez Kartel (oh...sure...gotcha...absolutely....{HUH????}) and Beenie Man (see previous), as well as Lady Saw and Sean Paul (Wait a sec...sorry....forgot my Babelfish....where were we???).  Outside of reggae, I love George Micheal, and Madonna, and Eminem.  I would say, it surprises some people to know that the other type of music I love is metal.  I love Metallica, DRI, and Manson.
I can not stand country, techno, or rave music,,,,,

Oh, of course, I also love the 80's music, (like the WHAM! {see above} I am listening to now, lol)

How about everyone else?

Most people don't believe me when I tell them, but I like metal. Most notably Blind Guardian (Hansi's voice is godlike), Sonata Arctica, Nightwish, Protest the Hero, Within Temptation, Slipknot. At this point most people give me blank stares so I throw in Iron Maiden to give an idea.

Aside from that, I like jazz and blues.I play alto sax and it's a nice way to relax. Unfortunately, sheet music is neigh impossible to find.

What types of music do you listen to most?
-  I guess it would be called progressive rock, but I really listen to a very eclectic mix

Who is your most loved singer or band?
-  Leonard Cohen (Close seconds to Steve Earle and Roger Waters)

What type of music can you not stand?
-  Don't like most rap/hip hop

Is there anyone in particular that you love, that would surprise people you know?  Cuz it does not fit into the normal music range for you?
-  Kid Rock

I consider it butchering all but the psychedelia...  'Minor Swing' has more than 2 chords dammit!

Chet Atkins on 'The Nashville String Band', with Homer and Jethro (presaging Old and In The Way by decades).

I don't mind if people enjoy the Dead, I quite like a couple of their tunes...but I cannot abide their playing being elevated above what it was, which was good enough to get the job done and no better.  And considering that the 'job' was entertaining Deadheads.....

All of it!
i dj for my college station so i get to hear a lot of new stuff there but my dad turned me on to GreenDay when i was young and they are still my favorite band next to the Matches. i mainly listen to rock/punk genre, but i love classical ( i don't know the difference between any of them i just love listening to it), 80's, ABBA (that is the one that would shock most).
Current Faves: Kate Nash, The Good Life, Motion City Soundtrack
Pretty much anything that is handed to me i will listen to. It's better not to stay musically ignorant because it reflects culture and pretty much life in ones persons view.

I guess my taste would be considered alternative, but I have always loved music of all kinds. I can listen to and appreciate just about any kind of music, country included, but rap and hip hop excluded.

On a related note: Are there any songs that have BDSM themes that you love? Or songs that are just damned sexy? Here are a few cuts off my sexy playlist. Some are old, some are new:

Dirt     Depeche Mode
You Know I'm No Good     Amy Winehouse
Sour Times     Portishead
Queer     Garbage
She Rides     Danzig
Rotten Apple     Alice in Chains
Evidence     Marilyn Manson
Change     Deftones
