I was playing with one of my friends the other day who happens to be a sub.  He's always up for anything (bless his heart!  LOL ) and I wanted to experiment with something that a sub had requested some time back.  I'm used to playing with the sounds, but was told that if I hooked up the tens unit to one of them while it was inserted, the sensation could be extremely pleasurable.  Well, I turned it all the way up and he never did feel anything.  I had one split lead attached with both 'patches' attached to the exposed end of the sound.  Tens units don't need to be grounded, so I'm wondering what went wrong.  I use the tens unit on myself all the time for medical reasons and I'm very familiar with how it works.  I also have a violet wand, but I doubt it would produce any 'pleasurable' sensations, even on low.  Suggestions?

Some sounds are made of stainless steel....not the best conductor of electricity.  Some are chrome plated brass or other such plated alloys.  You may just have not had a great conductor.  If you'd like to get a different reaction from the sub while using sounds, try using tuning forks.  Oh, the wide-eyed looks that come when you put the end of a vibrating tuning fork on an inserted sound....priceless!  Buy a set of tuning forks and you can vibrate at different frequencies.  Just my 2 cents.

I am a self proclaimed electro-slut, but know absolutely nothing about sounds. I have heard about them before but only as used on male subs/bottoms. Can they also be used on females? Can someone please explain to me what they do? feel like?  Anybody got a link??? (I'm also a link slut, but that's a different topic )

Thanks,
kat

Ok.  Electricity travels from point A (one lead) to point B (2nd lead) and it will take the path of least resistance.
So, if you are putting both leads on the exposed end of 1 sound it isn't even traveling through his skin.  It is going out 1 lead up the sound and back into the other.  Think of the flow of electricity as a circle.......leaving the box, going out one and back into the other, and back into the box.  The idea is to make it so that body material is in that circle somewhere.

Put one lead on the exposed end of the sound.  Then place the other, with a sitcky patch, underneath his balls.  I guarantee you he will feel it then.  The electricity will be going down the sound through his skin and back into the lead under his balls.

Do a little research on how electricity flows and conductive materials.  It helps to understand a little about electricity when playing with it.  Or, get someone that knows how to play with it show you and explain it.

Technically I'm sure the smaller sounds could be used on a female.  Could be interesting.  I too would be interested if anyone has links or experience on this.

For the OP, I would double check to the conductivity of the sound.  I also have to agree with Vnus that it sounds like you are placing both leads on the sound.  Make sure at least one lead is on the body.

Cheep version of how to do this:  thick nail (blunt the point first), pipe clamp, and alligator clips.  Developed during a pervetables game.

One of the best sites I have found for anything medical is http://www.kinkymedical.net/html/index.html . Yes sounds can be used on women and are used by urologists to stretch or break strictures in the urethra of a woman, not just men. The urethra of a woman is of course much shorter than most mens, but the plumbing is basically the same.

Not only is a woman's shorter, it is much smaller in diameter and the rate of curvature is MUCH different.
There are many different types of sets of sounds.  Some curved...some straight...some in between.
It is wise to find a mentor in this area for first hand, and "hands-on" demonstration.  Not only for proper insertion demonstration but, type of sound for m/f, sterilization and, safe sensation play, once inserted, as well.

Sounds will conduct.  They are a metallic material.  They do fine with electrical play as long as the leads are placed properly.

Agreed... some things you just really should not learn on your own. Attend a Demo, find a Mentor, learn safely.

You shorted out the sound by connecting both leads to the same conductor.  All the current passed through the sound and not through the tender bits you were hoping to stimulate.  Electricity flows from one lead to the other through the path of least resistance.  Connecting both leads to the same piece of metal gave the electricity a path of virtually no resistance.  You'll have better luck if you hook the sound up to one lead and hook the other lead up to a metal butt plug, stim pad, metal cock ring, etc.  The electricity will pass through the body to get from one lead to the other.  Remember that the smallest contact will produce the greatest sensation.  So, if the unit is turned up high while the sound is in, as you pull it out, you’re in for one hell of a shock.  The trick is to figure out what areas you want to stimulate and how to hook up the unit to accomplish your goal.  Also remember that different bodies have different levels of resistance.  That means don't think if you've tested a tens unit on yourself, you're gonna be able to use the same setting on someone else. It's a very personal experience and you really need your partner to communicate what they're feeling.  The stimulation will happen at the contact points and will also affect nerves and muscles along the path of least resistance between the leads.  The heart is a muscle isn't it?  And we don't want to disturb how that muscle works now do we?  So, make sure the heart IS NOT in the path of the current.  Hooking a lead to each nipple would be a very bad idea.  Do yourself a favor and study up on basic electrical theory and safety before someone gets injured.

I've never played with the actual medical equipment before so I am unaware of what materials they may possbily be made of.  I am aware that there are ones made of metal that will nicely conduct, but for all I know there could be ones made of other not so good at conducting materials.

Hotch has got it spot on Mistress Scarlet.

If you can afford it (these rascals are horrifyingly expensive for what they are, but well worth the money) it'd be better to get one of the specially designed urethral tens inserts; made of rubber, so easier to play with, and only the tip end is a conductor (so the sensations are confined to deep inside, and of course you need a part two, which can be wrapped round his balls or popped up his bum). With one part in his dick and the other in his bum the "sensation current" stimulation passes through his prostrate and can take him to a level of sensational delight that will amaze; he will think he has flown to heaven thanks to you.

Or, rather closer to what you've been trying, get a bipolar sound - see http://www.extremerestraints.com/electrical-urethral-sound_145.html so both leads attach to the same item.

And if you play with this stuff and start at low levels it's pretty tame and can lead you to think it's easy. But heed Hotch's advice (I speak from painful experience) -  "if the unit is turned up high while the sound is in, as you pull it out, you’re in for one hell of a shock". Best plan is to adopt the habit of ALWAYS turning the unit fully off before making any positional changes, whatever design of electro toy you use.

But with one thing up his bum, and one thing in his dick, he is in for a mind-blowingly delicious experience.
-------------------

And for those who are intrigued by this thread and want to experiment but haven't used sounds before - it's worth trying, but take it slowly. Try getting one of those little cotton tip buds, dipping the end in Vaseline and carefully inserting about an inch at most first time. It'll feel interesting and sexy, and later on when he comes it'll feel great. Then the downside - he'll pee fire for a day (perfectly normal and don't worry, but otherwise that can be scary - "am I infected?") but that goes away after a day or so. Next time try going further in (same results) until after a while your sensitive dick gets used to it.
-------------------

I find many subs (girls) are not keen to have electrical thingies in their vaginas or bums; men seem more relaxed about the idea. So any advice on how best to introduce girls gently to these wonderful pleasures would be welcome.

Excuse me for not getting back to this sooner, but a sudden death in the family took precedence.

Let me see if I can make this clearer.  My sounds are medical grade - stainless steel.  I'm used to playing with them and know all about how to sterilize and use them.  I'm also very familiar with my tens unit.  I've been using one for medical purposes for about 3 years now and was fortunate enough to have the insurance pay for it, so it's a high grade unit.

Tens units are perfectly safe to use above the waist.  In fact, that's precisely what it was prescribed for in my case.  Now, I'm not sure if I would want to put one on each nipple and proceed to crank it up to high....  common sense should prevail here.

The tens unit was off when I inserted the sound.  Once I let the sound "drop" into position, I turned on the tens unit and sloooowly increased the setting until I reached the maximum.  No results.  I then turned the tens unit completely off and pulled out the sound.  The only thing I've read here that might make a difference (short of buying even MORE equipment) is placing the second patch someplace on the body near the sound.  Although tens units don't really need to be grounded, I believe they do still need that "path" someone mentioned.  I'll give it a try.  Thanks for everyone's input.

Mistress Scarlet

My sympathy to you and your family over the loss.

I'm concerned because you say your experienced with a tens unit and then reiterate your uncertainty over what went wrong.  This, along with your comment about “tens units not needing to be grounded” confirms to me that you don't grasp the principles you're dealing with.  I’ve laid out exactly the problem in my previous post and also some suggestions on how to correct it.  Also (and I stress this), a tens unit is NOT perfectly safe above the waist.  It can be used safely, but it does rely on current to generate muscle stimulation and must therefore be used in a manor that doesn't interfere with the heart.  A violet wand stimulates through high voltage/ nil amperage (static electricity) and IS safe anywhere on the body where a spark won’t cause damage (like an eye).  Please get some instruction.

Crikey man!  That shit is dangerous.  Wasn't there a post not long back on here about some ejit playing with E stim and killing his girl?  I'm pretty sure it was with a ten's unit.  I wouldn't be suprised if my memory is serving me correctly here.  I remember reading that post and thinking back to a time when my ex hooked me up to a 10's unit, looking back realizing he had no clue what he was doing, remembering the accidental jolt of electricity that went shooting through my body because oops things weren't hooked up right, being scarred for life and petrified of E stim, and realizing..... holy shit he could of killed me the moron.

Yah - I think that post was on here cos I also remember fwding it to a friend as a heads up.  IMO - this is something you really need to know what you are doing.  Its all fun and games until a reader is reading a post about how yer going to jail cos you moron'd the job and killed your sub.

Ah here it is http://www.collarchat.com/m_1565619/tm.htm  - Ok so it wasn't by a 10's unit.  But it was by electricity and an ejit not properly educating himself on what he's doing.  (that must of been the connection in my mind)

Back to the first 2 sentences of this post :  Crikey man!  That shit is dangerous
