An American engineer attending the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Boston this weekend said that by the year 2029, computers will have intelligence equal to the human brain. And that we will one day have mini-robots in our bodies fighting disease and interacting with our neurons.

From what I can gauge, many machines already have more intelligence than many humans. My toaster is brainier than a quarter of my compatriots I'd estimate - and thats when its not plugged in.

Nano-bots interacting with our neurons? I foresee a future where the war on drugs is a fond memory.

I wouldn't pay too much attention if I were you, its not difficult to find web sites demonstrating that "expert" prognosticators are frequently wrong.

I well remember looking at the bones in my feet when X ray machines were available because  "experts" had concluded that X rays were not dangerous

Wow, you're like what 110 years old? Doctors have known x-rays were potentially harmful since at least 1908 when John Hall-Edwards lost an arm due to x-ray exposure.

So is AI going to catch up with human intelligence or is human intelligence going to drop to the point where it is equal to AI ? They didn't mention that.

And artificial stupidity, there is a website for that. It's the 'other' NASA. I think it's National Artificial Stupidity Association or something like that. It is satirical in nature, but some of it is a decent read.

Based on some of the people I've hired over the last 25 years...I'd say we've already reached equality.

Well, AI has surpassed the neo-cons I think as far back as 4 A.D. and it has, within the last 20 years or so,  surpassed most self-styled conservatives who live off rush limbaugh and tired argument gleaned from the net.

DomKen is the kind of expert we need to worry about. He has some facts at his fingertips but he gets hopelessly muddled when he tries to draw general conclusions from them.

In this case he did come up with a good reference tho' Hall-Edwards.
The machines were introduced in the late 30's

I will however point out the error you've made. You claimed "experts" had concluded that x-rays were harmless. Which of course is wrong as I pointed out by showing that one of the formost early experts lost his arm to radiation damage that he correctly blamed on x-ray exposure. That some collection of shoe salesmen decided to use them for a dangerous practice at a later time does not mean the actual experts had concluded x-rays were harmless it just means that idiots who didn't listen to the actual experts built devices that endangered others. So yet another of your attempts to attack science and knowledge is shown to be at best wild exageration and at worst utterly untrue.
