It was pretty good, but it's no Fargo..........eh?

Speaking of the Coen brothers, I went to see No Country for Old Men - it rocks (have they ever done a bad movie?).

Every one of theirs that I've seen has been good, my two favorites are the already-mentioned Fargo, and Miller's Crossing.

Amazing films, Level. What about Barton Fink? "You're a sick fuck, Fink." (John Goodman).

My current sig is from the movie...when Ricky is watching the video he took of the plastic bag blowing around in the wind.  I love this movie and that scene in particular.

"I don't see how a body can straighten up and fly right with that sumbitch Reagan in the White House.  They say he's a good man, so maybe his advisers are just misguided."

Name that film...

One of the best ever. Dark, yes, but the relationshop between the daughter and the neighbor boy...I don't know exactly why but it rang some bells in me. Everything about American Beauty just blows me away every time I see it.

Magnolia had a very similar effect on me and, again, I don't know exactly why.

Bob

I loved that American Beauty was brave enough to put in our faces what so many think but never say.

I loved Magnolia.  It had that same raw honesty.  But...the frogs...I didn't get the frogs.  What was up with that?

Loved that movie.  I was at the same age of the character that Kevin Spacey played, and it was like I was seeing myself in the mirror.

The ending was shocking the first time I saw it, but I love it when he smokes his boss for $60.000, buys a firebird, and gets a job at a fast food restraurant.

Is that not a middle aged crisis of what?

I rewatched the final few minutes.  It shows the neighbors gun rack... and it shows the main character walking w a blood splatterred t-shirt, AND wearing rubber gloves!  So the main character kills himself?  [even tho he could not hold a pic frame and cock the gun the way it was cocked][or per haps it was his alter ego?]  just because the wife went into the closet and grabbed his clothes doesnt mean she did  killed the husband.  maybe i am dumb...

also- the boy who filmed everything did not film the dead body. that must have meant soemthing.

after the film I wanted to call my gram. the sports car I so relate to. The music.  the memories.  the wind. what a film.

The latent homosexual, uptight, self-hating neighbor kills him.

No, he doesn't kill himself...  That's not Lester with the blood spattered shirt and rubber gloves, it's Ricky's father.

I think you need to watch it again.
