snappykappy -> what would u do if u found out (2/13/2008 10:56:07 PM)

what would if u thought u were healthy and then found out the u were gonna have a lung heart transplant and would have to be put on a waiting list

not knowing when a donor would be found or if one would be found even if u were in wose health than others already on the list

also what would u do to be able to afford it if u did not have medical insurance to cover it

DaddyAndCarina -> RE: what would u do if u found out (2/13/2008 11:00:21 PM)

I believe when it is our time ............  Wont matter how much  money  or insurance we have

What  would I do ....... make sure I didnt miss any  of the small things in life nor forget to let the people I  care about know exactly how much I care about them ... then  live what I  had left to live

Muttling -> RE: what would u do if u found out (2/13/2008 11:01:45 PM)

A lung transplant????

My first questions would be what is the likelihood of the success of such a proceedure on ME?   My second question would be what are the difficulties that are likely and what are all the details????

You ask a very very complex question in such simple terms.   I find your phrasing to be quite simplistic and extremely foolish.   Organ transplantation is a complex issue under the BEST of circumstances.   If you don't understand and embrace the normal complications then you can't possibly comprehend the potential complications.

Pray,...hard...

GreedyTop -> RE: what would u do if u found out (2/13/2008 11:02:37 PM)

I have no insurance. So I don't go for any medical treatment unless it's immediately crucial. If,  in the course of an exam for an emergency visit, it was discovered that I had a terminal/transplant need...I'd be screwed...LOL

snappykappy -> RE: what would u do if u found out (2/13/2008 11:02:38 PM)

would u tell ur parents who are in their early 90's and their health is very fragile and this might just be the kicker to do them in or just keep it to urself

GreedyTop -> RE: what would u do if u found out (2/13/2008 11:04:00 PM)

hell yeah I'd tell my Mom! I'd want the time with her.... and I know she'd want the time with me...

Muttling -> RE: what would u do if u found out (2/13/2008 11:04:35 PM)

Early 90's???   What doctor in his right mind would recommend them for a lung transplant????     The procedure alone is likely to accelerate their death.

snappykappy -> RE: what would u do if u found out (2/13/2008 11:05:01 PM)

well i have researched it on google and typed in lung transplant which will give a lot of info and by the way i just found this out today and have 9 pulmanists who are looking at my condition which is sarcoid and also google it to find more about it

slaveboyforyou -> RE: what would u do if u found out (2/13/2008 11:06:48 PM)

If it were likely to save my life, than I'd do it.  I don't have any medical insurance at the moment either, so I'd go in debt.  Debt is not the end of the world; at least I'd be alive to avoid the creditors.

If it were unlikely to save me, only keep me alive for a few more years, or keep me alive with a extremely diminished quality of life than I would say Carpe Diem.  All my money would go to having a good time on my way out.

DaddyAndCarina -> RE: what would u do if u found out (2/13/2008 11:06:53 PM)

That one I cant answer .... or even attempt  to  give advice on ... Are you  souls caretaker ... if so  you  might need to  broach the subject

Muttling -> RE: what would u do if u found out (2/13/2008 11:08:10 PM)

Are you in your 90's?????    If not, why did you even mention such an age???

You are fishing for answers that you want to hear instead of being honest with us and with yourself.    I have no answers for you and I do not trust you to give me complete inforation concerning your condition.   Honesty with yourself and with your doctors is the FIRST thing to seek out.   You have failed to be honest in this thread and this will be my last response for that reason.

snappykappy -> RE: what would u do if u found out (2/13/2008 11:14:25 PM)

muttling maybe u ought to look into the facts and maybe just maybe see if u might have it (sarcoid that is)

no i am 57 and i will be most likely put ona waiting list

my lungs a scarred and that is from sarcoidosis and i highly recommend people find out about it especially the females because it affects them at a higher ratio than the male

i first had the case come to light in 96 and it went dormant and now has come back

i am taking prednisone which really depletes the immune system but helps with the breathing

snappykappy -> RE: what would u do if u found out (2/13/2008 11:15:52 PM)

also muttling read what i typed i typed my parents are in their 90's not me

CuriousLord -> RE: what would u do if u found out (2/13/2008 11:18:18 PM)

I'd research as much as I could to figure out how to make the organs I currently have keep working until the transplants arrive.

I'd probably renew my peace with death, too, as even if you're not going to die, it can reduce stress.  (Although there have been a lot of studies that suggest people who make peace are less likely to survive than those who try to fight it out with certain conditions; cancer comes to mind.)

I can't advise on finances.  The only thing I can think of would be to research loan options and hospital policies on finicial assistance.

snappykappy -> RE: what would u do if u found out (2/13/2008 11:19:58 PM)

well it will be done through the veterans administration who will set it up with more than likely ucla med center or possibly barnes hospital in st louis missouri

A similiar thing is happening to a dear friend. His Doctor also told him he had to wait. He got a second opinion and that doctor got him moved to the top of the list. He didnt have insurance either so that doctor had him declared disabled. He got disability from social security then medicare agreed to pay for the operation when it became available to him.

 I hope that helps you.

snappykappy -> RE: what would u do if u found out (2/13/2008 11:22:03 PM)
