I've known people in my community who have raised money for medical costs for their friends or relatives by holding fund-raising events, like a "Beef & Beer", which is basically a big party with a $20 or $25 per ticket cost at the door.  Ideally, a band or DJ donates their time, and they have games, Chinese auctions, etc. All proceeds get put in an account to be used to offset the costs of the transplant.

Dont give up is the first thing I can advise ..... there are always options and places to look that arent immediately apparent........I have been there if you want to talk on the other side please feel free to contact me..... alternative medicine works wonders.... even if jsut helping to cope.... there are a number of options other than your va.. disability as has been stated ... etc .....look at any and everything .. the worst that happens is you hear ... no we cant help.

As for telling your parents.... only you can decide that ..... but if it were me .. I would probably wait until I had more information....but that is just me .... good luck ....
