So long that you've started saying "eons" instead of "aeons"! Well, first Associated launched Metro. It was a cut down version of the Standard, which they distribute ouside tube and main line stations for free weekday mornings. It's pitched slightly younger than The Standard - which is still around. About a year ago, News International launched The London Paper (same demographic 16-34). A few more features, bit more colour. Cue Associated saying NI had stolen their business plan and launching London Lite as a spoiler. All three distributed the same way: brightly clad kids shove them at you in the street. There's also The City Paper, which is a free business sheet. Phew! Oh, yes, The Standard raised their price, dropped some supps and their ABCs are climbing. At this rate, their staff will be able to afford to shop at Whole Foods, which has taken over Barkers, next door to their building. Homesick yet?
