"The flag should never be used for any advertising purpose. It should not be embroidered, printed or otherwise impressed on such articles as cushions, handkerchiefs, napkins, boxes, or anything intended to be discarded after temporary use."

You don't show respect by printing it on a paper coffee cup.

I have a set of American flags, starting with the" Don`t Tread On Me",flag w/ a coiled snake on it and every American flag after it, up to the Star Spangled Banner.

On July 4th,I hang them all across the front on my house end to end.People seem to like them.

The Annin Flag factory is near where I live.

agreed, Fargle.. the 'bandanna' type thing I referred to is actually proportionate..  it's basically a small flag.

On another note:  I also have a Dutch flag that I got when I was considering a relationship with a Dutch national.  Although we are no longer a pair (if we ever were..LOL) I still have the flag.  It is folded and kept in a ziploc.  Just because it isnt MY country's flag, Iwill not treat it in a manner I see as disrespectful.

Might I suggest getting a blue star service flag for the youngins

I do not need a blue star service flag. I am quite happy with what I have; thank you very much.

I think flag flying is discouraged in this country.

Though I have seen our Union flag used on boxer shorts, not much respect there is there.

I live in an apartment, so I don't display a flag outside (don't know how long it would last, given the young hooligans that run around here tearing up things). But I do have two of those little flag one waves at 4th of July parades. They are currently on display in the custody of my two Angels Rally Monkeys.

I have two American flags, one in the front of the house and one in the back and a pirate flag that says "Surrender the Booty".  I have a new pirate flag that says "The Beatings will continue until morale improves"  that I have to send up the flagpole still.  The pirate flags are signals that the party has started and drinking has begun.  Funny thing is....they never seem to come down.  8)

I have covered My bedroom walls in huge flags, the four walls.  One is an Italian Flag, One Jamaican, One Canada Flag, with a cannabis leaf instead of a maple leaf, and One Gay Pride

DO you display any flags at your home?

Yes - and no.

Yes if a poster of flags of the world that is hung below a map of the world in the bathroom counts; its a trick to force my UMs to learn during those times when their minds are largely otherwise unoccupied....

No - it would be rather too eccentric even for the likes of me to fly or display a flag at any other time than during an international football match. At those times the flag of England is displayed in my bay window (directly onto the main road), and if (or rather when) England are knocked out on the customary penalty shootout with which we've become so enamoured, the German flag replaces it, Germany being my adopted country for such times - and theyre almost always still in the competition. But its not the modern German flag - oh no, I'm eccentric enough to use the German Imperial flag (pre 1919).

Two flags for me....

The old Durham flag with "Land of the Prince Bishops" on.....and an SAFC flag from years gone by......

I'd rather hack at my knackers indiscriminately with a scythe than have an England flag of any description.........

I don't actually have any flags in my own, other than a poster which shows the flags of the world and which can also be found in my atlas.

In Brighton/Worthing monthly market days have stalls which offer 'foods of Europe' and I love seeing the flags displayed from the countries participating. My only criticism is that I would like to see this expand to include more of the world especially as I'm partial to Persian/Thai/Mongolian cuisine.

Aside from some, no one seems that proud to fly the flag of their country for some reason. Could that reason be they feel  not of that flag or not proud of it? What could this be saying things that were, countries etc are now largely obsolete?

It is like when I am asked my nationality, I always say English, not British although my ancestry is English, Cornish and Eirish and of the English, that being Northern English which is different from Southern English. This all taken in mind, I should say my nationality is British, but I feel it is not.
