Our legislature was warned 6 years ago about the possibility of this kind of drought. Private groups actually had research done, and several reservoirs could have been constructed that would have prevented the current problem. There was a huge report that was given to them, that they just ignored. Got to assume Lanier and the Chatahoochee (sp?) are pretty close to capacity, as to how much drinking water can be pumped out, even in periods of regular rainfall. Have the various counties or the state government made any attempt to actually start planning growth in the region?

Oh hell, everyone is scrambling to do something now. Some counties are forming regional or district level co-ops to create some more reservoirs. I agree, but how does a state stop unemployed women from having babies and calling on welfare to help those women feed them? Illegal aliens simply don't matter in the grand scheme of uncontrolled growth in the Atlanta region. Thank you. I was using just a few examples of what Ga. can do to take control of their over-population control. I did not "grow up" in Ga. or TN. But I have a vested interest in both states. I lived for many years in Warner Robins, Ga. and for about 10 years in Nashville. My pup lives in Savannah. Small world, (pun intended) yes? MoGa

Why would Virginia want West Virginia back? Getting rid of the poorest part of the state was the one of the best things that ever happened for them. ( I lived in Va for over 10 years, and still have familly there).
