Domiguy, are you still stuck on the Dan Rather AWOL story based on unsubstaniated documetns from anonamous sources?  Or is that different for some reason.  At least this story didn't lie and say that it had been authenticated.....

What Dan rather did cost him respect as well as his job.....Since you are incapable of connecting the dots...I will offer you some needed assistance. You see, Firm posted a story....If you are capable you need to go to the top of page 1.....But here, I will be kind enough to bring it "down" for you....Here it is...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/02/07/AR2008020703854_pf.html

No the story clearly admitted "The authenticity of the document could not be independently confirmed"....But Firm chose to use it because it fits in nicely with his own political views and hopes...Even though the article is poorly written in that it doesn't cite ONE reliable source...That doesn't matter to people like Firm or Dan...If the message is such that it enhances a position that they hold dear it doesn't matter the source. You run with it...That they, Firm and Dan, can't or are unwilling to engage in a debate without utilizing such garbage says much about the strength of their position. It's all so disheartening! Wouldn't you agree? You have always struck me as an intelligent an openminded guy...Wouldn't you agree with my argument?

If there is anything within my post that needs future clarification you should send me a private message...Jumping to a conclusion, like I was referring to Dan Rather, to some might make you look unintelligent. I would hate for people to come away with such a low opinion of you.

I'm only here to help...I am your friend.

Sounds like Al-Qaeda is falling apart.   Could it be that we might actually be winning?
Certainly not. We've already lost. The goal of terrorism is to induce fear in the population, and change the way of life of your target. Americans are afraid of anything that the TV tells them they should be, and the government/media has seen this, and used it. God forbid if we had real threats right now, such as the UK had(has) the IRA.

Now, you may think "my way of life hasn't changed", but it has. You can't take liquids into the "secure area" of the airport now. Why? The "binary explosive plot". The "binary explosive" plot involved TATP, triacetone triperoxide. Synthesis of AP requires time, ventilation, and an ice bath. The precipitate is NOT a liquid, it is a crystaline organic peroxide. The AP must be dried before it can be used effectively. The plan never would have worked.

See: http://roguesci.org/chemlab/energetics/acetone_peroxide.html

Similiarly, the "shoe bomb" plot also involved AP, mixed with PETN. They could not have brought down the plane with the shoebomb, the bomber would have lost his leg and bled to death, and there'd be a small hole in the floor exposing the electronics(redundant!) compartment beneath the eisle.

The NSA has AT&T monitoring all internet traffic going through their fiber with DPI devices, without a warrant. See http://www.eff.org/issues/nsa-spying and http://www.eff.org/cases/att - Despite the fact this was done without a warrant(and is thus illegal), certain figures in the government are pushing for telco immunity.

If you goto the airport, it's been ruled that customs and TSA can make copies of your laptop's harddrive without probable cause, despite this little passage:
quote:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

The world in general is afraid of their own shadow, because for the most part, people are ignorant, and understand little. The constitution in the united states means jack shit now-a-days, contrary to our leaders oath to protect the constitution, against all threats foreign and domestic.

And, you're no more secure. Explosives could be detonated at the secure screening area. There's nothing stopping someone from taking down an aircraft just after taking off, by putting .22lr rounds into the turbofans while the plane is still low to the ground(and generally over a populated area). Ruger 10-22s are cheap.

You are no safer than you were, you only have the illusion of safety, and one hell of a national debt.

It just goes to show when confronted with an argument that requires thought instead of a knee jerk reaction or post that many will simply choose to simply disappear.

I hadn't thought about that - but that does kind of describe what happened when the Sunnis decided to question Al-Qaeda in Iraq. Good point.
