Raechard,

The UK has done this to foreign nationals even those from countries that were not under UK influence (ex. colonies, protectorates, etc) for example General Pinochet when he was unlawfully detained in London in 1998...each country has to try their own people by their own peers.

Most European countries since WWII have crimes against humanity laws which allow prosecution of certain crimes in their country. Belgium being a case in point which is why some activists tried have petitioned Belgian courts for the arrest of Kissenger and Rumsfeld for crimes against humanity. This would put the obligation on other European countries to arrest these men pending extradition should they enter their country. However the petition failed. This was the case in point with Pinoche, Spain wanted him arrested for the disappearance of several Spanish citizens, Britain was obliged to arrest him under treaty obligations pending an extradition hearing. He was allowed to go back to Chile and not extradited to Spain on humanitarian grounds because a doctor to say he was mentally unfil to face trial. Though this was obviously a political release becasue there were doctors that said he was fit to face trial.

Yet it is interesting how that same law falters and has a trembling hand when it comes to Mugabe in Zimbabwe and other useless dictators who are invited to Britain to participate in forums/conferences...

Mugabe has never been invited to Britain to participate in conferences and forums. In fact the British Prime Minister boycotted a conference on Africa because Mugabe was invited.

It does seem kind of screwed up that the EU gets 2 seats on the Seucrity Council and like 30 votes in the general assembly, now.  The EU needs to lose seats.

So you dont agree with each nation having a vote ?  The security council is nothing to do with the EU but everything to do with England and France having a say. Maybe all five members should give up this right and have an equal playing field.
