I have sometimes had this problem in the past because I did my Ph.D. in politics, and I'm very knowledgeable about political affairs. But the funny thing is: these days it's less of a problem because the more I learned about politics, the less desire I have to discuss or even participate in the activity. These days, people often come up to me and ask my impressions of a particular political situation (like the elections that are going on right now), and I find they come back more and more these days because I don't even have political opinions of the specific people and policies, but I have pretty much divorced myself from the subjective constraints and prefer to discuss the objective realities of what is happening rather than what I do or do not feel about issues or candidates. And I find this helps those around me have the best opportunity to come to an informed decision on their own without my "opinion" getting in the way. So, to answer the original question, I don't think that my current circumstances would ever get in the way unless I was owned by a Mistress who was very passionate about politics in one ideological direction and then demanded I, too, be as passionate. It might actually even be more interesting to me to actually TRY to be subjective.
