Status: offline 		Hello terminator fans. Remember watching Part III? The new Fox Series "The Sarah Conner Chonicles" looks really awsome thus far. However, I can't get over about how much it screwed over the story and timing for Terminator III. This new chronicle series picks up after part II and seems to make Part III non existant. Has anyone else thought about this or am I the only one?

Status: offline 		that sort of thing happens when you travel time and change history......I mean the entire premise was dumb to begin with.  The machines could simply poison the air, or make viruses to kill the humans.  No need to go all theatrical with fighting robots, except it is fun to watch.

Status: offline 		Yeah, I caught that too. I can’t really blame them, it frees them from a lot of constrictions. Can’t say I get all weepy over the now "non-existence" of Terminator III – aside from the Termin-babe-or the movie was basically rehash of the earlier movies. Also, Clair Danes (who I like as both an actress and a babe) was none-the-less completely miscast. She looked like she was confused and couldn’t figure out how she ended up in this movie.

As for the new series, I like it so far. Love the new Termin-babe-or! I wonder if the producers will explore a "relationship" between John and Cameron (nice tip of the hat there). While you couldn’t blame the guy for being interested she remains, essentially, a high tech version of a blow up doll.

Status: offline 		       I caught the first couple episodes last night (DVR is a wonderful thing).  It looks like it might be good fun.  Very nice eye candy too.

No. The machines didnt make any viruses, they launched all the nukes.

Which is kind of stupid as well since a nuclear reaction emits a massive electromagnetic pulse that just frys any electronic circuit or device for hundreds of miles away from ground zero depending on the strength of the blast. Humans may be fried but so would the robots. Their CPUs would be toast.

A man after my own heart.   I watch sooooooooo many movies where I find myself asking, "Why didn't you just use this technology instead?"

The terminator series is a cool story, but you have to turn off the bull shit sensors to enjoy it.



Edit:  Don't even get me started on Star Trek and how the technology changed from one episode to the next.

EMP isn't going to do that. To make a sufficiently high voltage pulse to destroy unshielded electronics at hundreds of miles away is going to require nukes big enough to simply crack the planet open or at the very least a lot of the rumored EMP bombs that nobody has ever tested and no government has ever confirmed having and that may well be physically impossible to make.

Status: offline 		I was never big on TV series based off of theatrical films.  This one is no different.  I miss the hardcore, asskicking Linda Hamilton from the first two and you can't forget Arnold.  Hell, even Edward Furlong and Robert Patrick were a nice casts in T2.  Patrick had personality as the T-1000, while the terminator chick had no personality at all.  I understand the whole robot concept, but she was supposed to be more advanced than the T-1000, not have the charisma of drywall.  I guess with all the extra firepower given to her, the writers forgot to install Personality 3.0...I guess it ran on Vista!  T3 was a bit off because nearly all of the characters were poorly cast.  Eye candy or not, the series is missing something BIG!

Final assessment:  The machines didn't nuke this series fast enough.

On a different note, who here misses the Keifer Sutherland show "24"?  I sure do.    Fucking writers strike.  To those who miss 24, we should go Jack Bauer on their asses!!!  Who's with me?!

The same criticism applies to T:SCC, where we see at the end of the Pilot, that the Terminator Skull ( denuded of skin ) *also* makes a time-trip, violating the rules, also.

I've wondered about that myself.  Best not to think about it too deeply.  Just grab another handful of popcorn and go back to enjoying the eye candy

Status: offline 		What most people tend to ignore (or simply don't know) is that the Terminator movies are taken from a short story by Harlan Ellison called "The Soldier". T2 was taken from his story, "Demon With a Glass Hand". The entire franchise came from the fertile mind of an award-winning fantasist., who was not consulted when T1 was made, by the way!

I didn't even bother with T3, and when the TV series was announced, I knew it was going to suck. Why? Because it is--in effect--a copy of a copy of a copy! The best quality will always be found in the original.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to read the works of Harlan Ellison.

We did it with the above-ground testing performed after WWII.  Bomb was set off at high altitude (test Starfish Prime) and damaged components in Hawaii and New Zealand in 1962.  The yield was only 1.4Mtons.  Wiki's got a good article on it:

Status: offline 		Quite frankly, the commercials I've seen for it, made it look rather crappy to me. But maybe I'll try to watch an episode before I render final verdict. I find that tv shows, for the most part, often ignore events and timelines that occurred in their movie versions, IMO. Poetic license and all that. It's all about the ratings, not the facts. Just like movies that don't follow their book versions exactly.

       Nonsense.  If you got this idea from tv, don't ever watch that channel again, and if you read it, throw out everything by that PUBLISHER.

     You get EMP from an airburst.

      But I think I'm going to hold on to my suspension of disbelief for the show.  Nothing else new on, anyway.
