Oh yeah,Gordon Ramsay and Hell's Kitchen... that man is amazing. As a lover of fine dinning, I admire his professional standards (absolutely no tolerance for a dirty kitchen, or an ill prepared dish, etc...) But mostly I just find something fascinating about watching a half crazed Brit screaming, "you call that a tortellini?!!! I wouldn’t serve that to my dog!" The funniest moment for me was in the other series he did (Kitchen Nightmares) when he was upbraiding a chef (who had proclaimed that he had a passion for food) for serving powdered (as opposed to real) mashed potatoes. Nobody, he said, with a passion for food serves powdered mashed potatoes! I was damn near rolling on the floor laughing because my mother loves mashed potatoes and for here they are the manifestation of quality for a restaurant. If the mashed potatoes served her are obviously made from a powder she'll make a low voiced comment like, "oh dear, powdered mash potatoes, how feeble." She won’t say anything else but that restaurant goes on her shit list and is not visited again. Marc, there is no reason for *ANY* restaurant to be serving powdered mashed potatos!
