So, as a potential president, she's..

A:  Manipulative and deceitful enough to fake tears.
B:  Going to cry when things get tough.

Wonderful.

President Bush had tears in his eyes during an hour-long tour of Israel's Holocaust memorial Friday and told Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice that the U.S. should have bombed Auschwitz to halt the killing, the memorial's chairman said.

Okay, so now we have President Bush crying; any thoughts on this, versus the Hillary situation?

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: Hillary's tears (1/11/2008 5:35:46 AM)

her tears didn't move and/or convince me to vote for her.  she was playing heavily on the emotional card and imho those who voted for her Tuesday were suckers to fall for it.

Not enough choices, actually.

The tears reminded me of a critical scene in the Robert Redford movie, The Candidate. Redford's character has just made a crucial compromise in his integrity, and he knows it. At that point, his elderly father (a political mover and shaker) reaches over and pats him on the shoulder and says, "You're a Politician now, son!"

Before, Hillary, you were just playing around. Now, you're a real Politician. You've learned how to manipulate a crowd!

Your poll didn't have the option I'd have chosen: Why the fuck is this such a big deal?

2 reasons:

1. IMO, if the crying was fake (and i believe 100% that it was calculated acting) it's blatant and callous pandering to the Oprah emotions-over-logic crowd, which in a perfect world would have no place in politics.

2. Yes, everyone cries. At times that may be appropriate, or may not. But would you want the Chief Executive and Commander In Chief of the U.S. snivelling during negotiations with world leaders? Can you picture Margaret Thatcher, or JFK, or Harry Truman doing that? How do you think such a weak ploy will play in Iran, or North Korea, or China, or Venezuela?

If you want somebody who will use every superficial sham in the book to get ahead, pick Fred Thompson... he managed to sucker the state of Tennessee with his Good Ol' Boy, red-pickup persona. Leave acting to the professionals.

Bill used to get teary eyed from time to time.

Now as to Hillary - seems like she's screwed all ways.  If she's always cool, calm, collected, then she's a cold hearted emotionless bitch.

If she shows some emotion, then she's unstable, manipulative, or both and not fit for office.

Not unlike the situation a lot of women have in professional lives.
