Outlier2 your first paragraph sounds like my workplace.

If a real man means one who is overtly aggressive, competitive, violent, and all of those things that defined the alpha male about 1 million years ago, then I do not wish to be a real man.

thanks,

In the last twenty years or so, there's been a wholesale adoption of "the bdsm lifestyle" by that part of Western society that resents and resists the increasing blurring of sex roles. Two formerly distinct streams are merging as traditional roles become marginalised and thus "perverted".

Not in my household.

We certainly blur and even cross those BS socialized gender roles.

Being dominant does not make me any more a woman than it might make you a man. It simply is part of what makes me TammyJo and makes you tigerstyle.

In the words of Stuart Leslie Goddard (and in poor imitation of Ron)

5 Guns West

Ladies can be captains and ladies can be chiefs
Just like glorious amazons, ann bonny, mary read
Ladies can be captains and ladies can be chiefs
This stuff I’m talking buddy-bob
Don’t give me any grief

5 guns west

I’m a big tough man with a big tough plan
Gonna take a whirl with a big tough girl
I’m a big tough man with a big tough plan
Gonna spend my life with a big tough wife

A woman’s wrath hath no man, and this all men must fear
These were ladies from hell, carving crimson careers
Ladies can be captains and ladies can be chiefs
This stuff I’m talking buddy-bob
Don’t give me any grief

5 guns west

I’m a big tough man with a big tough plan
Gonna spend my day in a big tough way
I’m a big tough man with a big tough plan
Gonna take a whirl with a big tough girl

5 guns west

I’m a big tough man with a big tough plan
Gonna spend my life with a big tough wife
I’m a big tough man with a big tough plan
Gonna take a whirl with a big tough girl
Im’ a big tough man and my name is stan
Gonna take a ride with my big tough bride
I’m a big tough man with a big tough plan
Gonna spend my day in a big tough way
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Of course, who would take masculinity lessons from a boy named Leslie?
Adamantly,
Carlie
JDE I dont think that most of that pertains to being a real man. The alpha part does.
Owner4SexSlave -> RE: Dom = real man. (1/9/2008 9:46:41 AM)
Real Man - is a vanilla slang that many women use to express their burning desire for a male Dom.
I'm not speaking for myself, or for you. I'm pointing out something I've noticed: that certain segments of society interested in perpetuating traditional roles have recently adopted "bdsm" and made it their own.
Ah, I understand.
Yeah, I've noticed that along with a rise in "religious" or "spiritual" claims being made too.
I can't say that I personally am pleased by either trend but then I can choose to not join those groups.
Probably involves underage waterboys, and therefore banned by the TOS.  No wonder I have never heard of it!
It's been a while since I dared post on here but this really got to me. In one of the answers to a post the person claimed that it took a Real man to be a Dom. What constitutes a REAL man??  After all of this time I may be a fake. Educate me people.
My first dom eventually came to realize that he was more of a sub.  Different label, but same person.  He is extremely masculine.  Never any doubt about that.  A lot of subs and switches are "real" men.  It has nothing to do with what pleasures your mind and body.
edited to add...Unfortunately I can't read any other responses because I haven't been able to get full threads to load for the past three days.  Apologies if this repeats any other poster and if I don't answer any.
You know I remember revisions to the observations of animals a few years ago that revealed that the alpha males of those groups fathered fewer offspring than the beta males. The alpha had to spend so much time defending his "rights" being so aggressive or protective that he often had little time to mate. So females in the group would turn to other males when the biological needs hit. I recall that they determined this through both observation and genetic testing.
