cyberdude611 -> Hillary cracking under pressure? (1/7/2008 3:08:15 PM)

After a loss in Iowa and Obama surging in the polls, is Hillary falling apart? Rumors are that her top advisors are submitting resumes to rival campaigns and then Hillary nearly started crying on television today.

Latest polls shows her down double-digits to Barak Obama in New Hampshire. And she has lost her giant lead in national polls.

Hmmm, I'm not one to support Hillary at all...  In fact, I'm a rather big opponent of her...  That being said, I think it's unfair that her showing emotion will probably be taken a lot harder than if she was a male candidate.  I just have the feeling that if a male candidate did a similar thing, it'd be taken as him just showing emotion...when she does it...it's just a woman showing weakeness.

If she doesn't make a come back soon...then yeah, she'll be done.  For too long, she ran totally on the fact that she'd get elected.  She was inevitable...and now it's coming to light that she's not.  Obama has all the momentum now.

Gwynvyd -> RE: Hillary cracking under pressure? (1/7/2008 3:34:00 PM)

It shows she has passion, and is actualy concerned about the direction of the nation.. not just being the name up there.. and they will damn her for it because she is a woman. Hell read the comments on Youtube. I hope most of these assholes arent voters. Geez.

Dean showed emotion, and he went out of the running. They will pick off the best ( in my mind) viable canidate that will get in there and shake things up any way they can.

They have always been hardest on her. Hell as first lady they were scared of her.. they have got to be crapping thier pants now that she is running for office.

I wish her luck... she is right.. it is the most important election we have seen.

Gwyn

Bill Clinton said; "There are things I can't do; I can't make her younger, I can't make her taller and I can't make her"....something else.

Tell that to Edmund Muskie.

Have to disagree Shawn1066

No man running for President of the United States would ever be able  to be elected if he was caught crying out on the stump or even behind the scenes. More so the press would have a field day reporting and reporting and reporting and reporting it, over and over and over and over again for days and days and days and, until, like Muskie, they went away.
I think her showing emotion is actually being downplayed exactly because she is a woman. If that happened to Obama or Edwards they would be beyond toast at the moment.

The American people do not want a President, man or woman, who cries under pressure while campaigning. If they crack in campaign mode, how can the be expected to hold their composure in the actual office of The President and carry out its duties??? As stress levels go.... campaigning is about 500x less stressful than actually being POTUS.

popeye1250 -> RE: Hillary cracking under pressure? (1/7/2008 5:34:29 PM)

Well, there'll be a lot of tears tommorrow night in New Hampshire.
And at 12:01 the voters in Dixville Notch, N.H. vote, all 25 (?) of them.
Oh, that's in about 3 1/2 hours!

It depends on the timing...  I do tend to agree with what you're saying, don't get me wrong.  I think, and I could be proven entirely wrong in a month or so, but she may very much be toast.  Unless something derails the Obama snowball.  Perhaps it won't effect her just because of her gender, and I hope it won't...  It's just my gut reaction to think it will.

That being said, I'm still happy her campaign is self-destructing.  It makes the democratic side of things a lot more exciting to watch.  Lets just see if Obama can keep moving now that he's the party front runner.
