I'm not a Dom, but my mom drives me nuts. If I met someone who reminded me of her I think I might take special joy in beating that poor girl. . .

Men tend to seek women like their mothers for genetic reasons too.  Think about it.  Half of your genetic material comes from your father, and one thing you know about your father is that he found your mother attractive enough to have sex with her.

The same works for women, too: they tend to find men like their fathers.  Obviously, there's a limit to how much stock you can place in this sort of thing, but in the aggregate the effect is undeniable.

As I explained in your other thread recently, men tend to seek women who remind them of their mothers because their mother was their first and strongest role model of what "women" are supposed to be like.

Women sometimes do this as well regarding their fathers, its called the Electra Complex.

In a completely subconscious way, I've formed this sort of relationship. My father, a single parent, was always there for me, no matter what was going on in his own life, or what an obnoxious teenager I was being. After about six months of living together with my Dominant partner, I finally realized this. They have very similar physical features and much the same attitude about life in general, (though Master is MUCH more intense in his opinions) The only difference I've found is that my father found it difficult to discipline me. I think he felt guilty for the actions of my mother, which, of course, weren't in any way his fault. And so I've found happiness with a man who has many of my father's traits as well as some I think I felt were missing as a child. I've always gravitated towards men like my father. It feels safe. Those attributes trigger a feeling of safety for me. I am more able to believe they won't just walk off and leave me one day.
We learn so much from our parents. One main aspect of that is the opinions we form about close personal relationships. These complexes, if not obsessed over, seem perfectly natural to me. But then again, I find myself in agreement with a few of Freud's opinions too. ::shrugs:: To each their own.

And don't say my strength and daring.
'cause now I think I'm at your mercy;
And it's my first time for this kind of thing.
