quote:
ORIGINAL: charmdpetKeira Knowledge is power. Is having knowledge power, or other people not having knowledge that gives a person with knowledge power. One does not need to know everything, just more than the next guy. Knowing is half the battle. Knowledge alone, is only potential power, I agree with Philosophy’s equation, with the addition of ambition/goal. How much do we really know? Enter, smoke and mirrors. Does one really need to “know” something in order to have power, or do they just need to convince others that they do? Furthermore, even if a person does know something, it doesn’t automatically give a person power; the knowledge is only valuable, as power, if others believe they need said knowledge. Unless we are talking about self-empowerment, in which case, see; "knowing is half the battle". Side note: I thought currently, money is power. k quote:
Knowing how to tie your shoe laces isn’t powerful. Except when running a foot race and the other person does not know how to tie their laces. ;) Just wait, my shoelace tying empire will conquer the olympic games for sure! Anyway, thank you all for your responces It's great to see what everyone thinks. Yes, Raechard, the saying is indeed from warfare, but I was interested in seeing how others interpreted it on a greater application.
