In the context of mainstream American society, that scene most certainly is humiliating and demeaning. It portrays the rampant and ultimate objectification of the woman especially considering that the men most likely see it this way as well. Nonetheless, you are correct that the scene itself is not inherently humiliating or demeaning. Think of the ritual of Hieros Gamos. People in robes and masks encircle a man having sex with a woman. This would be seen as humiliating of demeaning in modern America, but in it's day, the woman was considered the key to spirituality and the only vessel through which communion with the gods could be achieved.
I think it is important to always consider the context of the act being perpetrated. People often say "who cares what they think," but the unfortunate fact of the matter is that what other people think can have a very profound impact on your opportunities. Read the thread on being outted. One poster explains that we was pretty much dismissed from his job because his boss discovered he lived the BDSM lifestyle.
