Not all submissives are masochists, nor are all masochists submissives.

What say you? Im very curious to see what others think!!

For me personally...I don't see enjoyment of pain as a submissive trait... but as a Masocistic one.

However,  Understand that there is countless traits out their and how we precieve and indentify these traits will vary between individuals.  Trying to find a universal answer is a rather fruitless exercise.  Some individuals will see enjoyment of pain and the enjoyment of giving pain as identifible traits of submission and dominance as well it being traits of masocists and sadists.  These individuals obvious preceive Submission tied to masocism and Dominance tied to sadism.  Are they wrong?  Well not in their world!  They live in it not you or I.

In a universal sense I think you will be hard press to find any trait that will be indentified as submissive.  But, we as individuals will often (Not always) have traits that we will associate with a particular label.  Behaviors matter to us and we group these behaviors to a label.  Sometimes people do look beyond the specific behavior into the motivations behind the behaviors before they actually label the specific behavior/trait.   For me, the motivation is an important consideration.

Nope, that would be a masochistic trait. Some submissives are also masochists. not all. Some dominants are sadists, not all. Some dominants are also masochists. some submissives are sadists. some masochists are not either submissive or dominant. some sadists are not either dominant or submissive. Some people are both. some are all four. some pick and choose.

hope that helps.

Definitely what she said.

I was talking with my gf last night about our D/s relationship, and dominant vs. submissive traits in general.  She said that shes sees me as a domly type, with some submissive traits.  The one that got me is my enjoyment of being scratched, bitten, etc. as being a submissive trait.  I argued that taking pleasure from that isnt a submissive trait, but is just something that I enjoy.  What say you? Im very curious to see what others think!!

i never really thought of being bitten as a trait. As i enjoy it myself, i think it is just  part of my likings for as long as i can remember. i don't see it as gender specific either.
