The Dems could run a yellow dog against Huckabee, and get my vote if CA was in play

Well, me being an orthodox liberal, here's my set of scores-

Dodd 78 (hey- he was my homestate boy- I'm bummed he's dropped, but recognized him as a longshot from the get/go.)
Kucinich 77 (too ugly to be elected)
Hillary, Biden, Obama all at 64 (I'm very anti- death penalty- actually I was pretty much pegging the important meter on most of those questions.)
Gravel 57
Edwards 51
Richardson 49
Wudy 40
Ron Paul 35
Romney 19
McCain 8
Thomspson 7
Hunter 7

Overall- I could see voting for Obama- which means that hell must be freezing over, because me and Merc would vote for the same guy. I hope it doesn't come down to Hillary or Edwards- Hillary is at best a place keeper (no dramatic changes on the horizon), and Edwards scares me as way too populist. I'd prefer Richardson, and I'm wondering if he still hasn't got a shot- he may be more electable than any of the other Democratic candidates.

Of the Republicans (yeah, right, like I'd vote Republican- well, not for any of those clowns)- Mitt is very, very smart- I've seen him speak and answer questions when he was gov of Massachusetts at an energy conference. He's also a weasel- he's changed his mind on key issues to be elected. He's the Republican version of Gary Hart- another very smart guy. Wudy is a fascist-I can't stand how he draped himself in the mantle of 9/11 and basically didn't have to do anything. And anybody remember Bernie Kerik? McCain is just mean- he reminds me a lot of Bob Dole. Huckabee may be a good egg deep down- I just don't agree with the guy on anything- and he's completely clueless about foreign policy. I don't think he's the sharpest knife in the drawer. (And I'm a little worried about the graft charges out of that state.) Ron Paul is a goofball who has an appealing platform if you don't think about it too long.

At this point, I could vote FOR Obama or Richardson. (I would have been happy voting for Dodd or Biden as well.) Anybody else would probably be picking the lesser of two weasels, which is what it's come down to for me for just about every presidential election. I wonder if Obama would pick Al Gore as a running mate?

Scary huh?

Although I don't think we'll end up with Huckabee as the option. He played well in Iowa however in Iowa, 'The Music Man' is a reality show. That said, I don't think I be able to support Mitt. Guiliani has become as floppy in his convictions as Kerry.

I made a little bet with beth that if Senator Clinton fails in NH, Mr. Gore will enter back in the picture. The Democratic 'machine' won't like an Obama led ticket. Remember, as much as the Democrats claim to be the party of the "little man" they get as much, if not more, support from corporations than do the Republicans. Senator Obama hasn't been on the PAC dole long enough to have made friends, and as such would be perceived as very dangerous to the status quo. To me that's a good reason to vote for him, even if there were no other.

I'm desperate to be able to vote FOR someone. As of today, I could vote FOR Senator Obama.

Hi Merc

Well, I think we're in agreement with Huckabee- I'd be very surprised if he gets the nod for the Rep. nomination.

Al could be a lock on another VP slot if he'd want it- but since he really decided not to run, I suspect that he doesn't want the VP slot either. But who knows- maybe he'd change his mind. He's got the best track record for predicting the Bush presidency of anybody and since he's ditched his handlers- he's shown he's not a stiff. I think Al would be a better asset to Obama than Hillary per se- and to your point, he's shown he can play the game. But bear in mind Obama comes out of Chicago, a town with some very rough politicking- he may be young, but he's not green.

I'm still expecting it to be Huckabee vs. Clinton with Obama as the dem VP.

The evangelical protestants who voted for Huckabee yesterday are the core of the GOP primary voters atm and they by and large don't consider Mormons to be xtian so Romney has no realistic chance of splitting their vote. Giuliani and McCain are simply not acceptable to those same primary voters so it looks like a lock for Huckabee unless one of the other candidates can make releasing a murdering rapist for political reasons into a serious controversy.

Obama, much as I personally like him, is too inexperienced to win the nomination but is a very attractive running mate. The Clinton's can get down and dirty as well as or better than the GOP scum who will be hard at work again this year while Obama can give the uplifting 'big picture' speeches that he is so very good at giving. The virtual lock on the minority vote Obama would provide coupled with the serious inroads Hilary would make in suburban votes might be enough to swing ohio, florida and the other urban states that have gone GOP the last couple of elections. Without that or a way to swing one or more of the southern states winning the electoral college is a very grim task for any Dem candidate.

I didn't think that was a very well done test. Several of the questions did not really fit what I wanted to say and I wanted other options. But I am usually an out of the box thinker. It had me tied at the top 29% for Edwards and McCain. Thenat tthe bottom Guiliani @ 17% (who I am leaning towards) and Paul at 14%
