Ever had Firefox add users to any or all of these blocked, favorites, hidden, subscriptions lists for no reason? Using Google Web Accelerator? That is the reason I believe, it is a Google mirror site, you are not actually on Collarme but on the Google server with then watching your every move! if on dial up and wanting more speed see if your Internet supplier offers a free accelerator like Propel, it does work well and is real not fake like Google Web Accelerator, about 20+ times faster and takes you to the real sites not a mirror, helps downloads as much too. If it is not offered free I'd pay for it as it speeds my AT&T forsaken 26kbps connection up a lot according to www.pcpitstop.com. I have two good working tweaked computers and two lines that both are as slow. Out in the boondocks here, no high speed available but satellite and moving so why pay $400 yet? I hope this helps those with the list problems. As soon as I deleted Google Web Accelerator my problems with lists disappeared on both computers.

You are mistaken. CM is on it's own dedicated hardware, and has nothing to do with Google.

So does this mean you are telling folks to get rid of google accelerators, or what? Firefox does not always work smoothly with collarme, IE seems to work the best. The problem is your software choices not collarme.

Yes, IE does work best. I've also noticed in cmail that with Firefox, I cannot select any font colors or sizes. And with ATT-Yahoo's browser, I cannot use the delete button here. I have to use the backbutton, one letter at a time... which is quite annoying.

The problem is Microsoft.

Collarme is written using the Microsoft toolchain, and therefore will ALWAYS act retarded when confronted with a real, standards based browser.

The problem is that the developers HAVE NO OPTIONS. They chose the Microsoft toolchain, and once that decision was made, we're forced to deal with the incompatibilities. Microsoft will *never* release *anything* that's obedient to standards. It's not in their best interest for YOU to have a decent experience.

The issue is MSFT's basic incompetence as software developers, and the conflicts between their business model and delivering good software.

( Good software is a process, not a product. )

Yes, CM does have it's own dedicated hardware and server, but the Google Web Accelerator system mirrors the whole www. , or at least what Google wants to monitor! If you use Google Web Accelerator it takes you onto Google's server's mirror of the site you are looking for and relays your monitored, filtered and messed up inputs back to the original server, like CM's. During that mirroring is where the errors happen. Alone, without Google Web Accelerator Firefox works great with CM. Yes I'd recommend getting rid of Google Web Accelerator, Google, and Microsoft if you can, try Linux or Apple/Mac.

This Google Web Accelerator, It's a proxy server. Like any proxy server, there are inevitable downsides. Granted, in many applications, pulling data from the google might be the quickest route. I don't know. If I ever have to fall back to dial-up, I use command line, character based tools...

So, yeah, ditch the proxy server. And don't worry about Google monitoring anything. AT&T owns the backbone, and THEY are copying EVERYTHING to the government, regardless of ISP. ( traffic not hitting the Internet exempted. If it's local to your own network, it's likely not grabbed by the splitters on the core links. ( unless your network is also breaking the law, and complicit in unlawful searches and seizures of your documents and telecommunications... )

So, if you CARE about privacy, you have to get these Loyal Bushies and AT&T Executives into prison cells, so that other companies won't work with corrupt, banana republic-wannabe governments in the future.

My point was that Firefox users also using Google Web Accelerator were gaining almost nothing compared to Propel and Google Web Accelerator causes profiles to be added to any or all of the blocked, favorites, hidden, subscriptions lists randomly.Google seems to be unique in it's accelerator technology, mirroring and monitoring flow to sites not just compressing packets. Anyone had sites hacked using it? We did, seems they can get passwords, etc. Bet here is Googling sites and opening them through the Google search gives them access to all you enter on the site. Me thinks Google and Uncle Sam smell of the same stench!

How many other software packages are installed on that machine, and who makes them?

I, myself, don't trust any software I can't get and examine the source code for. It's likely there's another piece of mal-ware got installed, which is the cause of the woes.

But why use any of this "Accelerator" junk in the first place. Another layer of proxy servers isn't going to ever help you.

I am the Master, a USAF trained integrated avionics specialist. I have two computers here running XP home, 512meg ram, plenty of CPU and recourses on both. I do need more ram, would like a gig+ but going to sell these and get Macs. I use Firefox and Bellsouth provided Propel accelerator. It really works on dial up downloads and page loading. It uses high compression I believe. Tests at www.pcpitstop.com showed a very large increase in page loading and downloads speeds. Google did virtually nothing on the tests on www.pcpitstop.com but slow it down and error, it caused errors on virtually all sites, especially CM. It is a phony accelerator not a high compression program. It takes you to mirrored sites without warning you. It (GOOGLE) has mirrored most the world wide web to monitor and control anyone using anything google. Employees perhaps may steal information, there are thieves everywhere, look at our government! Still think the smell is the same. What better way for the government to monitor everyone using the web world wide? Use a mirror site instead of individual spying. GOOGLE=GOVERNMENT?

Did the idea that Bell South would optimize the traffic from the product they provide in conjunction Propel, and retard the traffic of a competing proxy product ever come up?

That's the reason "Net Neutrality" is so important. So that your user experience isn't limited by the business goals of the common-carrier providing service.
