If you have were you happy with it and would you do it again?

I have been thinking about getting botox and a chemical peel for a couple of months, and I was wondering if there are those on here that have done it, and what sort of results you have had... I only want to do one line where I furrow my brow.

My Daddy says this is a "gateway" procedure, and while he has not forbidden it, or even necessarily discouraged it, he is concerned I will want to "kill my face". He points to people like Joan Rivers as examples of this.. I have a good friend that has it done and loves it

Status: offline 		      Your life, your body, your decision (or your decision about how those decisions get made).  I find the woman who gets botox in that movie hilarious.

      JMO, I rate the botox face right down there with fake tits.  Looks great in just the right light, but "off" in many others, and I personally don't care for it. 

       I hear it hurts like hell though.  That would be an upside for some.

Status: offline 		While I can see doing a the chemical peel, a botox just seems like not enough results for the money and risk you put into it for me. 

As always, I find the question to ask if what quality will it provide to you and at what loss?

Status: offline 		Julia, I had what seemed a perfect complexion, most people I encountered would comment on it, then I hit my forties and I awoke to little bumps under the surface and what appears an orange peel texture. A dermatologist has suggested a full chemical peel for my face, but success is not guaranteed and the possible scarring has been enough to ensure I haven't gone through with this procedure. I continue to live with my imperfections and become more comfortable with them. I haven't veto'd the idea altogether, I would need guarantees that I would not be left with facial scarring that would leave me wishing I'd left well alone. As yet, no such guarantees exist and any procedure comes with risks.

Please do research both procedures thoroughly, the main side effects of botox are paralysis of the wrong muscles and possible allergic reactions. If you still want to go ahead with them, the most important thing is finding reputable cosmetic doctors with proven history in treating people to carry out these procedures on you. When resources state, "side effects are usually temporary" it's wise to remember that 'usual' doesn't mean 'always' and it's those exceptions that concern me.

Status: offline 		The light peels have such little risk. The medium ones have a little more risk, but not that much. The heavy peels are the riskiest. They often start with the lightest peel to see how your skin responds, and I do not need the heavy peel, I just want to erase some of the sun damage. It works best with very fair people, which I am very fair skinned. My best friend got a peel and said it made her skin like porcelain.

Edited to add, my problem with the peel is that I spend a lot of time outdoors, and my Daddy does not like the idea of me doing this because he wants my company outdoors. If I have this done my skin will be like a baby's, and that means big hats, sun block everywhere I go, and avoiding the sun. I do not lay out, but I do not avoid the sun either

I have thought about having the muscle that causes this one line cut. It is the only line I have on my face... but like Daddy said, there will be more to join it one day

My friend was rather happy with her botox.. a couple of hundred dollars does not seem a lot, some women spend that on their night cream

Status: offline 		I think its best to just accept the natural changes which we all experience.
Many "personalities" who have undergone various procedures, at best, look unnatural and at worst totally awful.

A well groomed "mature" lady can look wonderful. IMO.
Hair style and suitable choice of clothes make all the difference in the world.

The Botox paralyzed her ability to breathe and at one point they pronounced her dead. She spent the next month on a respirator and has never fully regained her health. Research after the fact led me to find many adverse reactions. Please don't make this decision lightly.

Status: offline 		julia, just remember that there is a lot of money being made off of this product and the people who are profiting from it are loudly singing it's praises. As with any product that is marketed to women for the sake of vanity, the benefits are exaggerated and the risks are downplayed. The industry is well aware that many women will practically sell their souls to the devil himself for the chance of looking better a little longer. Of course most people who use it will be happy. It's one of those things that is great...right up until it's not.

Status: offline 		this sorta thing is for accident re-construction, IMO.  i know people can be very judgemental... i would not rush to it.  but that is me.  i havent rushed to lasic eye repair either.  ...when one is older one can pick out ages so fast. i never thought i could tell a bad die job- but i can now.

have you exhausted other options?

Status: offline 		-the OP in a way is a general question regarding the aging process. A profound topic which effects all of us. When I look at old folks... the ones cinical and bitter vs the free spirits- ild rather be a free spirit.

you can do everything right in life- then slip on a banana peel.

the odds of me doing such a botox- well- if I needed it for my occupation... it would eigh on the decission. It spooked me that Kanyes mom had a fatal re-action to a cosmetic procedure.  I also had seen the news expose on botox.  So if i was in a car accident that dispigured me- I probaly would.  But at 44- I would not. Maybe males are held to a lower standard.  Ones complection can be noteworthy. You know how the after sex glow looks?  that look would be so cool!

Well, one can't remain a pullet forever, lol. For me, looking older isn't a big deal, but feeling old (aching joints, declining digestion, less energy) is another thing altogether. The cliched phrase " grow old gracefully" is now tossed around by cosmetics companies to sell their wrinkle cream, so what does it mean now?
