Status: offline 		I have seen some that make me wonder how they have survived in the world before finding bdsm.  S types that seem to have no purpose in life other than to serve, M types that state complete control over every aspect of someones life.  It makes me shudder, but I have no wish to impose my thoughts on their choice, or even save them.  I just roll my eyes back and am thankful that I never reached that point.  The ones I do take exception to are people who are pedo.  And I am not talking about fantasy daddy/daughter play.  I have seen one here that went into graphic detail about how much he "loves" his UM.  Fortunately his profile has been pulled.

Status: offline 		what makes me cringe, is the ones who obviously have not done their homework before getting involved.  (or rather has done homework on erotic stories from Literotica. lol.) Before making the leap to enter the lifestyle, I looked up alot of stuff, I asked in the chatrooms where I could real,worthwhile info, and finally how to find my way to my local community.  and in the chats,articles, and talking to people at munches and parties, told me to trust my instincts, for they are the same regardless.

Status: offline 		I do see them and have initially wondered, but have by now decided to shrug them off as either fakes, or people who believe the CM is just a free RPG.

Status: offline 		I have to admit that I find people who condem others as not being "real" on their profiles. I understand the frustration that you get when you put a lot of effort into someone, and then have it not work out, but to claim someone is not real? We all have diffrent perceptions on what real is to us. Just because I find one style of life real, doesn't mean another will. I don't even bother looking at profiles that start off negative anymore...I'm looking for an understanding Dom, not a condemming one.

Just my 2 cents :P

Status: offline 		Looking at your profile I do not see anything that I refer to as "fake". What I - and I believe also the OP - are referring to are the profiles of the sort:

"Looking to be owned by extreme Master, no limits, total enslavement and destruction, human toilet, seek body destruction and retention of no rights whatsoever".

Preferrably, these profiles are also about 4 days old, never have any forum posts, include looking for anyone, their bicycle and their dog, and have no dislikes, hates or limits of any kind.

Edited for shits and giggles and content.

Status: offline 		I'm sorry if I mislead.. I was just talking about what makes me cringe in general.. I do agree with the other posters... Those profiles make me cringe as much as the next person.  It's just one of my pet peeves to see someone on a profile put people down for not being real.

Status: offline 		I think I see at least one profile that makes me cringe everytime I log on... and for quite a few different reasons. Sometimes it's the content- using the word "true" eighty times in your five hundred word profile seems excessive, sometimes it's the spelling/etcetera, sometimes it's just the overall tone...

And admittedly, sometimes it's the picture. I know I'm probably not the hottest guy on the planet... but sometimes all I can think is "Holy shit- is that the BEST picture you can find?"

But it's usually the content... things like "I'm a sexy six hundred pound woman who likes her bed sores licked" just give me the worst possible squicked feeling.

Mostly because I want to create just the right profile for myself, so I read to see what others are writing … so I have a better idea of what needs to be in my own.
“Cringe” is Exactly the word to describe my reaction to a awful lot of the profiles I’ve looked at.

As a submissive “seeking” …the mental picture painted of this lifestyle, by both “submissives” and “Doms” (and A/all the combinations that make up this lifestyle )
Has Honestly caused me to question my own desire to enter into a D/s relationship.

If nothing else … the “cringe” profiles I’m reading has Really imbedded a Deep inner sense of … Be VERY VERY Cautious!!!

Status: offline 		Even worse than profiles, are the emails you recieve from people who are from different countries asking you to marry them... Saying that either they are a submissive and they are looking for a Dominant to marry, or a Master who wants to control a Mistress... Whatever the case maybe you can't flippin propose to me through email???!!!??!!?!
It's so obnoxious. This is why I purposely don't put anything serious about my life in my profile, except for having a pet that I adore

Status: offline 		There's a number of things I see in profiles that make me cringe.  There are plenty of activities (CBT comes to mind) that also make me cringe.  I'm also certain that there are things I do that would make that person cringe as well.

It's not about my personal comfort or safety.

On the topic of cyber players, the old addage of 'too good to be true' is usually true.  Every opportunity I've taken to write someone claiming something along the lines of 'I've lived my life as a slave for ten years' when the author is only 22, turns out to be a fake, joke, or someone who went to collarme.com instead of secondlife.com.

This. I'm fairly new to the scene and I'm a newbie on CM, but even I worry when I see things like this. I saw some mention of over-the-top profiles and how offensive they are. I guess mine is. I'm only 1/4 serious, and the rest is just me goofing off. I don't really see a problem with over-the-top things as long as they're entertaining.

I am completely with you on that one, but then again, i come from the school of "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."  I feel sorry for all these bitter, jaded people.

Lots of cringe-worthy profiles on here... I use the "hide" button liberally.  :)

Seems like a surefire trip to the hospital to me.

I cringe when I see:
"Dommes" who're obviously concerned with money and probably not much else.

Sub men whose profiles scream "top from the bottom."
Any profile that talks about nothing outside of kinks and fantasies and isn't grounded in reality.
Dommes who seem amazing but have been so inundated with half assed responses from sub males that I know for certain my message will never reach their eyes...haha

Unfortunately, several of us who chimed in on that now-deleted thread think that guy was REAL*.  Look up psychopath in the dictionary and his pic will be right there.

Well, "Real" meaning that he really was going to hurt the first girl that let him, bury a bunch of bodies in the yard, that sort of thing.  Not "real" in the sense that he was a master, was a licensed massage therapist, and all the other garbage that he claimed.

The young "switch" males, who are obviously so desperate for anything female, they can't make up their minds on whether they are dominant or submissive. (And yes, i do believe that people can be completely switches, but these guys are just looking for women.)  Their profiles will start out as Lord Dom and Master, and by the end, begging to orally serve a woman.  Almost every activity possible is listed under "Lives For" and they are experts in all of them.  The thing that gets me the most:  Lives for: Gorean and Female Supremacy.  It just makes me roll my eyes and go WTF?!
Another set of profiles that make me cringe, but more because they make me sad, are other young girls my age that just so want to be loved that they are willing to do anything and everything, without regard for their own safety or well-being.
