How many sadists get pleasure out of seeing people in pain, but you have not inflicted this pain?

my Master has told me many times, as well as demonstrating it for me, that He enjoys seeing another in pain, only so long as He is the one inflicting the pain. He gets no thrill from seeing someone else inflicting the pain. He also gets no pleasure in seeing His slave in pain from an injury or any other cause. He only enjoy seeing me in pain brought on by His doing.

quote:

The pain could be given in an erotic or non-erotic context.  Would that make a difference for you?

If by erotic context, you mean a sexual setting, then no, it makes no difference. He can pinch me, anywhere, any time, in the car or the store or elsewhere and it gives Him the same delightful feeling. It's still going to provide an erotic excitement but, there doesn't need to be anything sexual happening.

quote:

Does it make a difference if the pain is physical, mental or emotional?

He doesn't really cause me any mental or emotional pain, other than some humiliation, which is only slightly painful to me, and He does enjoy that, also. He doesn't like to see me sad or upset. That doesn't give Him any pleasure, at all, and He will comfort me when He doesn see me emotionally hurting.

quote:

If you do get pleasure from it, is the pleasure sexual or not?
 The pleasure is sexual excitement.

*picks herself up from the smack down*

I'm sorry, I really read that as being scene related. I guess it's true what they say about assuming...

Ugh.. I had that done a few months ago too.. Did they describe what you would feel as sort of a "hole punch"..  *shivers*
Yeah, when I described mine to Michael he was very sympathetic and told me, " I only like it when I hurt you.."

All I got was "you will feel a slight pinch".   Uh huh, yeah right...  I cussed at her when she did the last one and then struggled not to cry.  Soon as I got out of the office and called him, I just started crying.  Part of it is not I really do not like and have negative emotional reactions to vaginal pain, especially sharp pain.

Many people have mentioned that they enjoy watching other's play.  I can enjoy watching this as well, but my enjoyment usually stems from watching other people have fun and the energy between them.  Then there are the rare occassions that you get to watch someone who is really good at what they do and it is a pleasure to watch them do what they love.

There have only been a couple of occasions that my enjoyment has been in watching the bottom feel pain.  That has happened in watching he and Alandra when he is using canes.  I am itching to get my hands on a cane and use it on her.

kat, it was not meant to be a smack down at all; though with the smiley face I think you might be kidding.  You made a comment that sparked an interesting thought for me about where the motivation from the enjoyment comes from, i.e. pleasure from simply watching others or pleasure from imagining yourself in their place.

Thank you for all the responses.

I enjoy inflicting pain.  Watching it happen is just an intellectual curiosity.

Sometimes I'll cringe at seeing something done that I would do myself.

I admit, I am a pretty sick fuck

While I get ALOT of pleasure, sexually and otherwise, from pain being inflicted on myself... I get just as much amusement from watching others go through the same. I don't like to inflict it myself though.

It really depends for me.

If it's clearly a scene, a SM scene then I can get turned on.

If it's abuse or assault then I don't get turned on.

In the case of fiction though what turns me on isn't an abusive scenario but the idea of "rescuing" the victim and helping them learn that pain can be pleasant with a caring person delivering it.

I'm a bit complicated in this.

Let me give a somewhat old pop example that some of you may remember.

There's a scene in "Buffy" season 3 I think where Faith rapes and beats Xander. That did not turn me on, it pissed me off, but in the next scene when we see him dejected and bruised that did turn me on as I thought about holding him and telling him "It's going to be ok now, I'm here to make it better."

I don't get off on seeing people in "medic!" kinds of pain, but I will admit I enjoy a bit of discomfort sometimes, like watching people pushing themselves at the gym. I guess the kinds of pain that you usually find in an athletic context, or someone getting into a cold lake very slowly.

She didn't rape him, I think she took advantage of his naivete and teen hormones, but not rape.  And she was rough but I don't think I'd call it abuse- he certainly never did and he referred to it a few times in future episodes.

This is an interesting question....
I had  pondered inviting my former Dom type to come sit with me while I got my second tattoo.
Sadly never got a chance to, but is food for thought.
Which is always a good thing.

Getting turned on by seeing someone else's pain that I didn't cause is in part the way I discovered that I wasn't just a dominant, I was a sadist as well.  Watching people being clumsy and getting hurt, seeing bitter couples fight verbally, seeing scenes in movies that made other people cringe, all of these and more got my heart racing and my body tingling.  It can be mental, physical, and sometimes emothional pain delivered in a sexual or non-sexual manner, it really doesn't matter to me I will still enjoy it unless it looks like the reciever is going through tremendous (and real) harm.  If the pain is delivered in a sexualize manner, then I usually have a sexual response.  If it's non-sexual, sometimes I still have a sexual response yet there are times when it just makes me happy to have seen it.  My mom has always just told me that I'm evil since I get joy from the pain of others; I have been like this since I was a child.

See, you asked a very biased question...what about us maso's that love to watch a intense scene and get really turned on by it? Hmmm...maybe I am an exception though...

Oh well, I'll just go back to playing with my crayons,
kat

I really understood this.......for me consensual pain 9with the ability to stop the sensation say, with a touch or a safe word....means to me that as a submissive I do have the power (if i would choose to use it) to slow or quicken the pain.........it's an attached then detached sensation......like full force and then a respite.......and being able to actually watch that, one more step removed, is really very voyeristic but at times even more of a turn on, as in porn, especially videos, which i really love......
there have been a few acted out scenes in movies which have connected...but the more subtle they are the better....as porn is just part of foreplay and if it is particulalrly hardcore and concludesit loses its appeal......
watching porn is like almost like being able to continue the scene that the porn began....where was this thread going...oh yes something to do with pain and then you see I get lost in the flashback, the recollection, of peak experiences all centred on particular sharp excriutiating moments,,,,
