kyraofMists -> Sadists - Pain Not Inflicted by You (11/15/2007 4:43:09 PM)

How many sadists get pleasure out of seeing people in pain, but you have not inflicted this pain?

The pain could be given in an erotic or non-erotic context.  Would that make a difference for you?

Does it make a difference if the pain is physical, mental or emotional?

If you do get pleasure from it, is the pleasure sexual or not?

Yes I get pleasure or sexually excited it from it sometimes at a dungeon, event, home, Safeway or whatever.  Both physical and mental.

kyra,
As I'm not a sadist I can only answer from the perspective of having lived with a few sadists. I know that my ex used to get turned on watching intense scenes...sometimes sexually, but even moreso he would get mentally geared up. I knew even before we began our scene that if our scene followed a very intense scene that he watched....my ass was toast.[:D]

mistoferin -> RE: Sadists - Pain Not Inflicted by You (11/15/2007 4:59:52 PM)

I also want to say that if I were in severe pain that was caused by something like an accident or illness, those types of scenarios did not evoke the same response from him. He was very caring and attentive if the pain was of that nature.

LOL...I just thought of an exception though. If I had a bad bruise from something like my own clumsiness....he would delight in poking it for days, laughing and saying "ohhhhhhh, does that hurt????"

SirJohnMandevill -> RE: Sadists - Pain Not Inflicted by You (11/15/2007 5:04:19 PM)

Guilty as charged. Although my "watching" experience has been limited to videos, I've gotten sexually aroused by M/f or F/f punishment scenes for many, many years.

Naturally, I prefer inflicting my own torments; much more sexual energy that way.

Yes, I get turned on by inflicting pain (consensual) ... I also can be turned on by watching inflicted consensual pain. But to just see another human  in pain, hurting ... thats a real turn off!

probablyknowme -> RE: Sadists - Pain Not Inflicted by You (11/15/2007 5:36:54 PM)

See, you asked a very biased question...what about us maso's that love to watch a intense scene and get really turned on by it? Hmmm...maybe I am an exception though...

Oh well, I'll just go back to playing with my crayons,

goodgirl08 -> RE: Sadists - Pain Not Inflicted by You (11/15/2007 5:38:54 PM)

Not a sadist but I love to watch...consensual pain, obviously, or a consensual scene at least. I can think about how it would feel to be in their position!

PsyVamp -> RE: Sadists - Pain Not Inflicted by You (11/15/2007 5:45:53 PM)

Knight's Kyra

I don't want to seem like I'm ducking this question but for me it would depend on the scene as well as the two involved.
I would even go as far as saying that it also depends on my frame of mind at the moment.  And sometimes its sexual and sometimes its not.

Well, if you are watching someone else and getting turned on because they are in pain, then I would not consider that to be a masochistic response.

If you are visualizing yourself as the person feeling the pain and getting turned on, then that may be a masochistic response.

The question was not limited to scenes.  It is about pain; either within a scene or outside of a scene.

Erin,

I have a similar perspective which is what inspired the question.  However, I will allow him to speak for himself.  I will say that he did surprise me today and he did not appear to get any pleasure from the pain I described to him when the doctor took a biopsy of my cervix.  He was actually rather sympathetic.

A big ditto to the bruise thing.  And weirdo that I am, I enjoy the hell out it.  *g*

Thank you for bringing this point up.  I didn't mention consent in the OP at all, but I am sure that non consent may be a mood killer for many sadists.

I get no pleasure out of seeing pain I have not purposefully caused.  Even if it is in an erotic way, if I have not intended the pain to be present, I wont enjoy it. I have told Fox that, since I incessantly check on him if he is bound and struggling.  He had asked me why I was worried about hurting him if I was hurting him. If I am not the cause, intentionally, then I dont want to have it there.  My enjoyment comes from the control of the pain and of the situation.

My 2 cents

Kyra,

Ugh.. I had that done a few months ago too.. Did they describe what you would feel as sort of a "hole punch"..  *shivers*
Yeah, when I described mine to Michael he was very sympathetic and told me, " I only like it when I hurt you.."

Now, as for me,  I am the type of person who laughs uncontrollably when someone trips or falls... I really can't help it..I don't think it's the sadist in me though.. I think it's more nervous laughter..

When I am watching a scene or a video, yeah, other people's pain is a huge turn on for me.. Especially consentual nonconsent..

LadyLynx -> RE: Sadists - Pain Not Inflicted by You (11/15/2007 7:57:45 PM)

well watching a video does nothing for me. but if I am watching a session where I know all the people involved.............yeah that appeals to me.  especially when the dominants calls out for suggestions *evil laugh* of course last few times that has come back and bitten me on the ass. literally.

It's like the man said: "If I don't have the right to torture you, why then do you have the right to torture me by taking away the pleasure that I could get from torturing you?"

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Coming back for more. (11/15/2007 8:56:51 PM)

It's not the same, but yes.  Though it's part of why I don't consider myself really an extreme sadist, I wouldn't get a thrill out of seeing my partner in pain from bone cancer, or my nephew dying of a bullet wound.

If it is the type of thing I enjoy, it does not matter if it is Me that caused it or not, it also does not matter if it is in an erotic content or not.  Mental and physical together is most preferable, and the pleasure I get is partly sexual but not exclusively.  Also if it is non consentual that increases the pleasure that can come of it.  For instance I read a lot of true crime novels, and consider that what I use for erotica.  Movies like Hannibal Rising and Hostel Two I find very exciting, both in a sexual way and in an excited “rush” kind of way.  I am not just a sexual sadist.

I just wanted to say that I have never heard of a sadist that would take pleasure in a sickness, that is kind of an odd thing.  And more importantly, sadists would not take pleasure out of seeing someone they love die, that is why serial killers almost always only prey on strangers.  They may be sadistic with those they love, but will not want them dead, because, afterall, in some form they do love them.

Fast Reply -

Submissive or otherwise, I've discovered recently that I rather enjoy watching Sir inflict pain in-scene on other people. (I call it third person sadism, but I suppose it's a type of voyeurism) I enjoy, specifically with Him, watching the reactions He creates with the other person. While I do enjoy occaisionally topping other people (never my Sir), I enjoy watching Him (and yes other people at parties or the bottoms in the scene, doing the suffering) more so. I don't know that it's necessarily erotic, just kind of fulfilling.
