I asked for an explanation, not a bunch of links.  Your credibility is a bit down on those this evening.

Obviously that oil from Iraq gig worked out great!

Or maybe that doesn't have anything to do with the war in the middle east?  Hmmm....

Markets hate uncertainty and it has a direct impact on prices.  While the war in Iraq isn't directly responsible for the rise in prices it's true that any administration would have known in advance that military upheaval in the middle east would drive up gas prices. Some might have thought twice before rushing into war with Iraq, thinking that rising oil prices would only serve as a Tax on Americans designed to benefit the Saudis & Russians.  Rather a strategically retarded move.

This administration, (Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld all had big oil backgrounds) plainly looked at the prospect of higher oil prices and thought, "Oh, a win/win!"

There was a gas war in Detroit today, a war that actually resulted in the loss of a life. The owner of a gas station dropped his prices 3 times today, when the competition walked over and confronted him he wound up shot to death. Over gasoline. He was a dad.
