DivaDante -> showing off toys (11/12/2007 12:15:56 PM)

why do people feel the need to show off their toys in picutres,Im not sure what the purpose of this is,do they feel it makes them more dominant/submissive? Inquiring minds want to know.

xoxi -> RE: showing off toys (11/12/2007 12:45:48 PM)

I don't know but it creeps me out.  I definitely think when a relationship ends the toys should go to the one they were used on because I would definitely feel weird having used toys used on me.

I so agree; whenever I see all these toys in photos, I wonder, what is the point? Was there a sale at the Romantic Depot? I have my own toys, thank you. Yuck.

I show her off because I'm proud of her. she also is a bit of an exhibitionist and I do indulge this aspect of her personality.

However I should point out that sometimes I'm in the picture too; although most never notice. [8D]

It shows they have the tools of the trade already I guess

Well, you have to put something there, the empty box doesn't do it for most of us. Would you rather they put up a picture of a cat?

Many times if it's a flogger of a paddle and you read the profile, you discover they make some of their own toys. Quilt makers like to show off their quilts, flogger makers like to display theirs too.

No, I don't want to see a photo of their cat or their floggers, unless I was interested in purchasing a flogger, in which case I would be going on a different site to buy one.

I would simply like to see a face photo; is that a problem?

ownedgirlie -> RE: showing off toys (11/12/2007 1:51:46 PM)

I really have no negative opinion at all over pictures of toys, nor do I have a negative opinion of his non-insertable toys being used on others.  Makes absolutely no difference to me.

Motorcycles, trucks, pets....?!

MstrssScarlet -> RE: showing off toys (11/12/2007 1:54:56 PM)

I'm risking a flame here, but I'm gonna say it anyway.

As a pro domme, I show pics of my dungeon and whatever toys are set up (suspension cuffs, inversion table, etc.) because people always want to know what they're getting before they come to me.  Besides myself that is.  For some of them, it's really important.

And btw, all of my toys are washed, disenfected, bleached, whatever before they are used on the next person.  Either that or they are disposable.

Not trying to drum up business, just chiming in.

Mistress Scarlet, that is completely different. If you are a professional, then of course those things must be shown. I think the OP (and me) were referring to people who just showed these toys, in lieu of themselves, while trying to meet partners.

I know I would rather see the person, than their toys, when trying to find a companion.

But if I was going to see a professional, then of course I understand you would need to see the surroundings, the ambiance, the equipment.

chellekitty -> RE: showing off toys (11/12/2007 2:02:27 PM)

toy makers can make toys for their partners, you know....

edited to add: are you talking about the pictures of their toys being their only picture or just one of their pictures?

Celeste43 -> RE: showing off toys (11/12/2007 2:03:25 PM)

I'm curious as to why you would demand their avatar be a recognizable face photo, when you don't have one yourself. Many people are understandably nervous about being outed to their employers, losing custody etc.

I presume you have worries also or else you would have a face shot up.

LATEXBABY64 -> RE: showing off toys (11/12/2007 2:33:06 PM)

oh wow i get it now the person with most toys wins

LadyLynx -> RE: showing off toys (11/12/2007 2:43:17 PM)

lol....if I ever get annoyed at someone's toy pictures, it would be of 'toy envy'

Squeakers -> RE: showing off toys (11/12/2007 2:46:14 PM)

I personally like to see collections of toys.   If someone says they have toys and it's ONE flogger and ONE cane and ONE whip---I am not intrested.   If he shows me a collection of canes, floggers, whips and can tell me what it's made of, the type of impact it gives, how it will probably feel on my skin---then yes I'd probably be intrested.   A good collection of toys is quite costly and definately worth showing off.

phedre81 -> RE: showing off toys (11/12/2007 2:54:39 PM)

I dunno what surprises me more--that this is an actual topic, or that I'm replying to it. ;)

I don't see any problem with people putting up toy pics.  I mean, I find it next to impossible to decide on pics/avs that capture me.  Particularly since I'm not big on the idea of my pic being online (I know, it's probably naive or something, it just makes me nervous--especially with some of the mail I've gotten around here!!).  So I don't really begrudge someone putting up a toy they like as their pic.  And I certainly don't begrudge them putting something other than their face (though I appreciate those who DO put their faces, as well!).

SimplyMichael -> RE: showing off toys (11/12/2007 2:59:45 PM)

There is someone in the picture with beth?  REALLY?  Never noticed....
