Poor neocons, they are so shortsighted and so dimwitted they can't even grasp the meaning of their own bullshit.

They all foam at the mouth at the mere mention of Bill but we are "haters" for looking at the blunder's of Bush and asking "WTF"?

So ol'e Bill pulled of an asymmetrical defeat of Communist China right under the noses of the Republicans.  China is no longer communists according to them and who is responsible for that?  Bill.  Even if it cost us some missile technology, I call that a rather cheap victory, especially compared to what Republicans spend on defeat.

Funny having one of our best presidents (who I couldn't stand) come right before our absolute worst.  So one more accomplishment of Clinton, in addition to no direct attacks on the US by Al Queda, he defeated the Chinese Communists using asymmetrical warfare.

I'm fairly sure he campaigned on improving public services/the economic and social lot of the poorest socio-economic groups....and on achieving power, he forgot all about it.

Not much to crow about there.

To be fair to Bill, he didn't mean to.......there was a woman crawling 'round on her hands and knees, so, after much soul searching, he did the honourable thing and gagged the bitch. No harm done.

Was Bill spreading freedom, too?.....hats off to him...

Uhhh...  So where in the educational process did you not learn the difference between "victory" and "surrender?"

I voted for Bill twice, Simply, but let's not try to suggest he "won" anything.

You guys are just no fun.  I was poking holes in that idiotic assesment of what asymmetrical warfare is about and how chairface loves chanting about it.  By her own terms clinton "defeated" the communists and turned them into capitalists.  Thats why china is okay but cuba is the root of all evil.

I know it is like taking candy from a baby but with skulls as thick as theirs, it isn't like dropping them will hurt anything.

I have no idea who "chairface" is (pick that up term up from the hate-speech on Air America, by any chance?).  I can only assume you are somehow comparing Clinton on China to Reagan on the U.S.S.R.

I call bullshit, and I'll tell you a little story that might explain why I feel that way.  Early June, 1989 (I could look up the exact date, but I'd been drinking very heavily for several days and just don't remember it).  I was sitting in a departure terminal on an AF base, watching CNN, and feeling very positive and hopeful about the world.  The last image I saw was a man standing alone in the street, and tanks coming to a stop.  Then I boarded and spent the next 36 hours without seeing another television or newspaper.

The same government that ordered what happened next is still there, and President William Jefferson Clinton (Clinton the First?) sucked their balls.  I never cared about the more famous blowjob, but this one pissed me off the whole time he was in office.

Clinton wasn't President in 1989.

No, he wasn't.  That's one of the reasons I voted for him in '92.

It sounded like you were pinning Tiananmen Square on him, which seemed like a stretch.

Not my intention at all, DC.  I can even understand the long-term vision of economic prosperity bringing human rights on the coat tails, but I don't see it working out that way.

I was very disappointed by the Clinton administration policies on China.

What do you wish he had done? I confess I don't know much on the subject.

China is still a communist country, thry are just smarter about running things that the USSR was. They give just enough free reign to their populace to give them the illusion of freedom, but if anyone goes too far the leash will be pulled back. Clinton did not beat them, did not even really stand up to them(of course no other politicians have done so either).

Remember, China has been around a long time, and anyone who thinks they can be trusted is going to get burned. They are both smart and ruthless, and eventually we will pay the price for thinking them mostly harmless.

Indeed, and that may give the Chinese a longer perspective on things. I remember reading that Chou Enlai was asked what he thought the significance of the French Revolution was. He said it was too soon to tell.

Human rights should have been in the middle of the table, every time we talked about trade with them.  The political capital was there.  He just rolled over, and his wife is still taking the money.
