LOL ... you are right, and I apologize...this is why I don't post very often, my dyslexia can turn things around and they do not become clear until its too late ... thank you for the kind correction, but I do expect to be slammed latter.

How do you "Forcefully Reunite" the Shia/Sunni split???

Think about it. Use your imagination. Kill all the Sunnis, or make them think it's the second coming of Mohammad, or convert them at the end of the sword... it's not like it can't be done, or that there aren't proven methods to accomplish such a task.

IIRC, the Shia and Sunni have been TRYING to do that for what? 1200 years? What made anyone think that the Iranians could pull it off? ( Of course that discounts the whole Kurdistan issue, too... )

Nope,we turn millions of pounds of surplus corn and feed corn into "corn syrup" every year, because we can`t get rid of it fast enough.

Just say what you said, to a group of Iowa farmers, then run as fast as you can out of the room, before you git hit w/ garbage.

Brazil is energy independent, and started on the course of energy independence years ago, under the guidance of
José Goldemberg

With real leadership,we could do what Brazil is doing.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/08/19/AR2006081900842.html

To not do these things and to not start towards energy independence,is saying you support blood for oil(our son`s and daughter`s blood). You`ll be saying that you`re ok with the status quo.

Now that we`re being a little honest here, let`s also add the cost of the Iraq war,in lives lost and in money, to the cost of a gallon of gas.

Because there most certainly is a direct connection, and relationship.

That would make the real cost of gas say, double, triple what it is now?And what price does one put on the life of a GI.
How many soldiers are going to die(per year),so we can have cheap oil?

When it comes to energy and the future,we have got to avoid the nay-sayers and cynics.Believe me,Exxon and Haliburton aren`t going to do this,in fact, they`re going to spend millions to keep things just as they are.

Try again. It's obvious that you aren't thinking about this! When you convert food to energy on the scale that we need, the poor will get hungrier. Come on, it's obvious to even the most casual observer... it's even been in the news. Why do I even try to discuss things with you... you ignore anything that doesn't suit your agenda, and you either cannot or will not face reality.

Another way, is what YOU might call "the Bush method". Tell them all that there's this great satan somewhere, or whatever, and whip them into a religious fervor.

Try that...

Not neccessarily Sanity, we can always cut down more forests and put in more farms, producing more food.

The thing with Brazil is they make ethanol from sugar cane, not corn.   And they use very little energy.  It is tropical, so they generally (I am sure some folks live upland and use heat sometimes)do not have to heat thier homes.  We could of course cut down the rest of the Amazon, and plant it with fields of sugar to power America.  But there wouldn't be enough to heat our homes, much less do everything else.  And finishing the job of mowing down the entire hemisphere would have some pretty bad ecological effects.  Quite likley there would not be enough water to grow the sugar cane.

My big question is why didn't Clinton do this when he controlled the Congress, and Presidency?   Does anyone seriously think that Oil became an issue after Bush got elected?

Isn't that exactly Bush's Policy in Iraq?

By giving everyone American Soldiers to shoot at the Sunni/Shia and Kurds will all get together and form a strong national government?

How's that working out for you? 17%, eh? Not so good, huh.

Do you realize that you just turned around 180 degrees, and are now agreeing that they could be united (against the West)?

Ethanol is a Republican boondoggle to support farmers.  Don't forget, it is the taxes from bluestates that fund the corporate welfare that flows into red states.  Whiny little bitches!  There is no corn surplus, it is subsidies that are paid to grow it that create the "surplus".  As for growing sugar cane to make it from, you have to keep cutting down rain forest to grow it as the dirts fertility is destroyed after a few years and never comes back.  It is short sighted in the extreme.

As for oil, it was ol Raygun that destroyed America's chance to be rid of the Arabs.  Carter had an energy plan (if you read it and Bush's recent plan, the similarities are stunning) that was actually in place and working and Raygun and the short sighted Republicans dismantled it.

Actually, no I didn't. I suggested the idea of Islamic Unity was center to Bush's Policy, and as such has been PROVEN to be a complete failure. Unless you think 17% is a Passing Grade of any sort?
