Ahhh dont use Sir, it's too common.  Daddy, as you said, doesn't fit your needs and if Master is too intense, that means we gotta find something in between.  Lets get some new ones goin

how about Omega (insert name)
Deathmaster
Your Prime(ary)
taskmaster
supervisor (implies you're lost without him and that he watches over you)
Owner (your sweet, merciful owner)
Controller

I had issues with a title for a while too - and for ages called him nothing while in his company - except maybe a 'yes Sir' if the situation required it. After a few months i called him Daddy - it just sort of came out - and we decided to try that for a while as it seemed natural to us. So, i would not stress too much over title, eventually you will find something that suits you both and that seems natural to both of you.

::Fast reply::

I struggle with calling Sir Sir as well.
I find nifty little ways of avoiding addressing him, unless it's Yes Sir or No Sir.
not because I'm disrespectful, but because when I say Sir...I swear it sounds sarcastic...

How about calling him Boss? I think that's way cute and do it with a english accent. XD

bipolarber -> RE: feels funny to call him Sir... (10/16/2007 9:27:10 AM)

Octavia,

It's much ado about nothing. "Master" and "Sir" are traditional terms, yes. But the two of you need to work out what feels right for you both. As a sub male, I usually negotiate what terms I call my Domme. Since I'm there for her use and pleasure, I look upon it as my duty to conform to her desires in this regard. So, if your Dom is okay with being addressed by his given name, so be it. If he prefers "Sir" then you need to get used to that... and if he prefers to be called "Grand Pooh-Bah of the Known Universe." Well, I guess you gotta! (But he'll have to get used to the giggling.)

pleasureforck -> RE: feels funny to call him Sir... (10/16/2007 9:44:19 AM)

Sir isn't something that has come naturally to me but he wants it when I'm wearing his collar. I am his submissive so I feel I should call him whatever he wants. Its starting to come out more without thinking about it now. In fact I was saying to him once he's living here I'm afraid I will slip and call him Sir in front of the UM's.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: feels funny to call him Sir... (10/16/2007 4:00:03 PM)

We use Captain and Monsieur a lot.

You have to find what works for you.  If you want to see what comes naturally, then just don't sweat it.  If you really want to try something more formal, then pick a term, and seriously try and stick with it for a week or so and see how you feel afterwards.

There's no extra cool points given out when you die because you said sir all the time vs Eric or whatever.

Dammit, LA....

"Everybody listen to me
and return me my ship
I'm your Captain, I'm your Captain
though I'm feeling mighty sick..."

You just had to make me go play some Grand Funk.  Thanks.

Fuckwad,

You know, I don't think there's a single way I could ever refer to you without being in awe.

Jami,

"My Dominant" should work nicely.

Nothing.  Just having a Kasey Chambers moment:

...And you be the Captain
And I'll be no-one
And you can carry me away if you want to...

Call him Admiral Van Hugen-Schlong.

Or the Latin, Bigus Dickus.

My serious advice though is to not go with anything that makes you feel silly. You might try Sir for a week and see if it becomes a term of endearment but if it doesn't you have to be honest about that with him and yourself. If you end up agreeing to something that feels silly and stupid, deep down, you're going to end up losing respect because you'll probably resent having to go with something that feels utterly dumb to you. I've been in those shoes before and ended up not being able to say the word without rolling my eyes and groaning internally. Some will say that if you're the sub you should just go with whatever he wants. But if the title he likes makes you feel like you're calling him Lord Poopah of the High Castle then you are better off just letting him know. After all, why would your dom want to be called something that evoked a negative reaction in you?

What I do still have confusion about is what to call him in the third person.  My _____ ?  Neither of us likes "Dom", Sir sounds dumb to me as a noun, I'm not a slave so Master doesn't fit, my Man sounds too vanilla and trite...  I've mostly been just using his name, but it seems like there should be some other way to refer to him that would fit...  I should ask him I suppose lol.  Oh Sir...

Not sure if anyone has suggested this one yet, but where I'm from everyone says "My Sir" this and "My Sir" that. As in "My Sir and I are going to the movies" It seems natural to me now that that's how people talk. Ever tried that?

TemptingNviceSub -> RE: feels funny to call him Sir... (10/16/2007 9:05:30 PM)

To the OP...well you can always call him an endearing nom de plume..such as..Kissy pot pie..or....Pookie Butt!...[;)]...Tempting

marsman -> RE: feels funny to call him Sir... (10/17/2007 10:53:21 AM)

Call him "Fluffy Dom".

It goes well especially when you are naked, bent over and he is holding a whip...

DollMaster72 -> RE: feels funny to call him Sir... (10/18/2007 7:27:07 PM)

"Call him Admiral Van Hugen-Schlong. "

Ok, yeah I think I like the sound of this one sweetheart.  I has that nice bit of German heritage to it.  But then I'm not much of a sailor so mabye it shold be Major Von Hugen-Schlong.
