Status: offline 		I suppose this pertains to all Doms, Dominas, and subs, but I pose a question: have any of you accidentally "stepped out of character"? Even if you consider yourself 24/7, were there any moments of blooperism?

I ask because I recently experienced this - while shopping on the phone with a sub (turned out to be a totally cheap loser), I nonchalantly, unintentionally, made a joke, and he busted out laughing. It caught Me off gaurd, and I had to laugh, too. Afterwards, we both composed ourselves, and I scolded him for being stupid.

Anyone care to share their experience and tips for when such a thing occurs?

I've made plenty if it's about laughing about a situation.   I see sex, bdsm  whatever as a comfortable extension of myself.  Life should be fun and fun can invariably meaning laughing (good naturedly) at self or another. To not laugh or joke is trying to stifle myself.   One can still scold even while laughing........

Status: offline 		Laughter or out of character moments aside, let's not forget those other 'blooper' moments.
 
Most recently, at a small gathering, here's the scenerio:
 
My boy tied to the cross.  Me going through the various toys that I will use on him.  The space is calm.  I'm sensatizing his skin with soft feathers, giving him goosebumps.  I chose a toy to warm him up to the next level.  One that has feathers on one end, and a little flicker on the other, so I can start mixing sensations.  Turn to use the flicker part on the boy, and that end goes sailing off across the room. 
 
Of course I laughed.  The timing was great.

Status: offline 		I think it is terribly important not to take a scene *too* seriously, because real life tends to have all sorts of little bloopers, sound effects and mistakes that you never get in fantasies. 

Maybe the rope was too tight, or improperly tied, and you have to fix it.  Maybe the whip slipped a little early on, and the sub made a very un-submissive "OUCH" sound.  Maybe you're feeling silly and decide in the middle of play to draw a smiley face on your subs ass.

Frankly, being able to deal with that and still be in the mood to play is crucial to me.  Perfection will not be found on this side of the grave, and is hardly desirable outside of the realm of fantasy, anyway.

of course whenever i say ouch, i always hear back "ouch is not a safeword"
and "would you stop that you fucking bitch" makes them do it more...hmmm....

edited to add: oh yea...i only call female Doms bitches...i don't like what happens when i call male Doms bitches...unless the are gay and flaming...then they usually just say "thanks"

Status: offline 		We have a light that hangs pretty low where we play. i was bent over the couch getting spanked and He told me to stand up. i wanted to obey quickly and stood up really fast, slamming the back of my head into the light. Hysterical laughter followed, but we recovered.:)

i agree with everyone who said you can't take yourself too seriously.

Status: offline 		Trust me, laughing at one's Dom while he tries to recover from hitting himself in the eye with his own flogger is NOT something I'd recommend one does one a regular basis!  Of course, that's also probably happened to every one of us, sub or Dom...anytime one plays with long, dangly, stringy things, it's bound to happen!  But it's still funny each and every time!

For example, while tying up a friend's boyfriend, I squeeked and gave him a big hug. My friend made a smartass remark about how not many dominants probably squeek. Two occasions spring to mind; one when we went into an Edinburgh hotel room and my former Master went to look at the view and promptly headbutted the closed window and another time when I was, er, tied up, and he tripped over the bed with two very full glasses of red wine and heroically managed not to spill a drop whilst immitating a rugby try!
